You know, if you did a limited-run cdr -- maybe 100 to 200 copies -- in a nice package, you probably could get a handful of relevant places like Crucial Blast, Hellride, etc. to carry copies of it. It would be better as an actual cd, although then you'd probably have to press at least 300 copies (although that would actually be cheaper anyway, I suspect). And then you'd also have copies to sell at shows and from the website (you do still have a website, I assume).
You're right about the wee labels feeling the economic / digital crunch, though. Which is a drag for me, because I refuse to buy music as shitty-sounding digital downloads. I'm old-school; give me cds / vinyl / cassettes or I pass. (Well, I do download stuff, but only to hear if it's worth going to the trouble of hunting it down and shelling out $$$ for a physical copy. Or to hear and have things that are impossible to find, like the Der Golem album I'm currently lusting after, or too expensive to acquire, like the Corrupted ep that sells for upwards of $300 on Ebay.)
Hey, thanks! I honestly don't know what we're going to do. I suppose we should probably just get some music down on tape and maybe make those sorts of decisions afterwards
