I just noticed something that's bugging me. In Armand's story in TVL, he was brought to Constantinople in "the last days of the Byzantine Empire." He then says, in TVA, that Santino "stuffed credos down [his] throat on the year 1500 before [he] was sent to Paris." I'm not an expert, but didn't the Byzantine Empire fall sometime during the 1450s? ( Read more... )

I don't think it took years for Santino to convert him but I do get the impression that he may have spent a year or two with the Roman coven before being sent to Paris.

Wikipedia says you're right about the fall of the Byzantine empire, and from what I recall of BaG, Marius wasn't even in Venice until about 1480 or later. I think Armand also makes reference to their time together ending on the cusp of the 1500s, so I'm guessing that AR threw in a wrong detail about when the Byzantine empire ended, rather than Armand spending decades with Santino and the Roman coven.

From what I remember, Armand remained in the coven in Rome for a good number of years before finally being sent first to Spain and then to Paris as some kind of evil ambassador of badassery and Trademark Coven Debauchery, etc. So I think the timeline (shockingly, given Mater's inability to maintain continuity between the core canon and the later books) makes sense.

The timeline I researched has the following. (Hrm. Sorry, it's rather hard to read out of excel. Date/Location/Event/Annotation format. Unless a specific date, the dates build on top of one another, i.e. 6 days plus 3 days plus 7 days, etc ( ... )

Fabulously detailed rundown---you are most excellent to have done this. Also, LOLZ on Marius apologizes for being such a dick and then continues to be a dick because, yes.

Oh. My. God.

I had completely forgotten that some of my loopy commentary was still in the timeline. *facepalm*

On that note, I can't help but still agree with my original assessment...
