I love my creative writing class, but every time i try to make up a story of a fictional character he/she turns out to have an extremely dark, sad story that never ends well.  plus i always give them a mental illness that goes spinning out of control and ruins their life

a greek tragedy methinks.

or better than that yet, start all your stories as morbid morality tales, they're sure to end comically. that is if you comedies end in tragedy.
