On the realization of the presumption (or assignment) of responsibility...

If we bear responsibility for failing to regain control of a situation, must we not equally bear responsibility for losing control of the situation in the first place?

The inverse is also true; if you have no control over a situation then you also have no control over its outcome.

Ah, but this isn't about outcomes. It's about preparation, participation, prevention, and ultimately acceptance. Hence the emphasized word is "regain", indicating that control was once had. All is in the past now and there is only reflection remaining ( ... )

I sense a debate that could have no end in the offing - I am going to pass! *grin*

Good. Because as you may have noticed, this post wasn't about looking for a debate. ;)

Not always. Sometimes a situation is already out of control when we assume (or are given) responsibility for fixing it.

Duly noted, and agreed. :) But as above with hsifeng, the situation in this disucssion is about one's own situaiton and one's own responsibility for it's circusmtance.

I see now that to win over the qualified intellectuals and academics among my friends, rather than simply share insight as I had hoped, would require me to repost much of the book I'm presently reading.

I shall endeavor not to continue to post mere snippets of enlightenment...

I had a dream I was taking this business class and the teacher was giving an assignment where you had to split up into pairs and I was trying to figure out who I was going to work with and then I noticed you were in the class too! The assignment was to come up with a product and then make the appropriate marketing for said product. We decided to make "Silent Razor" cologne.
