Wolverine and the X-men trailer

You've got to be kidding me.

Okay. First, that was gorgeous animation. I'll give it that. And it's good voice acting. And Kitty is on the team, which is a plus, even if Storm doesn't seem to be (at least, not after the initial attack). And I guess it's neat that there were cameos of new characters like Dust and such? But that's about all the good I ( Read more... )

YES ON ALL THE WOLVERINE POINTS.

Storm should lead this. Or you know anyone with leadership skills. I WILL ATTEMPT TO GIVE THE SHOW A CHANCE.

I love how in the comics, Storm battled Cyclops to see who would lead the X-men, and she won WITHOUT HER POWERS. <333333

I mean, I looooved Scott in Evo, but outside of that universe, he's just so bland.

I also quite liked him in the first movie.

I think there is a lot to be done with his character, just not enough ever really IS.

Definitely. Though mostly I just want MOAR STORM.

I personally find Storm pretty boring. She could be completely excluded and I wouldn't care all that much. She has a fine set of powers, but...dull. The way a spoon is dull.

Wolverine is not a good leader, no, I dunno WTF is up there. But I'm cautiously optimistic.

And speak against the nineties cartoon again and I may be forced to cut you. >:(

Yeah, I'm still definitely going to give it a chance. But I'm lowering my expectations so that they can be exceeded, I guess.

And I'll admit that the 90's cartoon is what made me fascinated with superheroes in the first place. That and the SNES X-men game were the coolest of the cool to me as a kid.

The thing with me is that I've already spent my time bemoaning the Wolverine-centrism months ago, so I've already come to terms with it. So I spent my time watching the trailer going HOLY SHIT IS THAT SPIRAL? IT IS SPIRAL HOLY FUCK! SENTINELS FUCK YES HOLY SHIT IT'S ROGUE RIDIN' WITH THE BROTHERHOOD JESUS CHRIST THEY JUST SHOT WOFLSBANE. DUST FUCK YEAH! THE HULK, DOUBLE FUCK YEAH! HOLY SHIT CYCLOPS JUST SENT THE JUGGERNAUT FLYING. I MEAN HE WAS STANDING STILL BUT IT WAS STILL AWESOME, FUCK YES GUNMAN. HAHAHA OH WHY IS POLARIS IN THIS, NOBODY CARES ABOUT POLARIS EXCEPT CHUCK AUSTEN. HEEE OH MOJO, YOU CARD.

Also, the possibility exists that the whole Wolverine Must Lead them thing is based on some sort of Future!Knowledge that Chuck has, not an actual assessment of their leadership skills. That would be a lot better.

"Also, the possibility exists that the whole Wolverine Must Lead them thing is based on some sort of Future!Knowledge that Chuck has, not an actual assessment of their leadership skills."

You know, I've actually been thinking that's the case. Because I read that interview where they basically said, "Yeah, Wolverine isn't really a good leader, so that's why we put him in leadership: to create conflict and interesting characterization." So because they admit he's not a good leader, I assumed that's why Xavier is doing it that way.

I was really hoping that X3 would go back to the awesomeness of the first X-Men/feature more Rogue/Wolverine be less of a wimp over Jean. I'm sad that this show doesn't look like its going to have any of that either. :(

Personally I'm kind of hoping that Wolverine is more of a father/mentor figure to Kitty like in the comics.

Now that bit was cool. And even the Rogue/Wolverine friendship in the first two movies was well done IMHO. Pity X3 had to come along and ruin everything good.

Canon wolverine fanboyism make kitty mad!

You don't like Wolverine very much either?

Well, I like Wolverine, but the canon fanboyism still sets my forehead vein a-twitching. He's a fine character, he's done some awesomethings, and although his solo series has had its ups and down when its been up it's been great. But goddamit, Marvel, there are cooler X-Men.

SRSLY. I used to like him sometimes in the comics, but all the Wolverine-centrism has almost completely turned me off to the character.

Eh, I've never really been that big on Storm, and I admit that Halle Berry kind of wrecked the character even more for me in the movies. X3? My friends and I agree for many reasons that the movie doesn't exist.

But yeah, Wolverine? Terrible idea. He's a great fighter and all, but he's chaotic and unreliable. He can take the reins in a pinch during a mission, but he'll never make a consistent, effective leader of the team through any situation--which is what they need. Blatant fan appeasement much there?

Yeah, movie Storm was kinda... ugh, they totally butchered her character (mostly in the second and third films).

And yeah, I pretend both the second and third films don't exist.

I'm more charitable towards the second and loathe and scorn the third like the plague. But yeah, the first one was certainly the best of the lot.

Some part of me suspects Storm's OOCness is in part due to Halle Berry's increasing "I'm an OSCAR WINNER DAMMIT" diva-like demands when it came to her role. X3 definitely bears that mark the most.

But the second film was awesome! D:

I mean, the third sucked out loud, but the second was great.
