I like lore and role playing, as well. Unfortunately, I don't have much chance to do the latter, being mostly a solo player. But I take advantage of the opportunity when my friends are on.
I love pets and mounts (fortunately, I don't have an particular aversion to undead and think the skeletal horses look pretty cool). In fact, the only reason I'm pugging right now is for the Pug. Sure, a chance to get better gear is nice, but that alone wouldn't have gotten me into an instance with four other random people. No, it had to be another pet.
In other words, I agree with you 99% ('cept for the whole undead thing :D) - I got to my job to work, I play WoW to have fun.
