Professionals (more like the blind leading the blind)

I've been around long enough to have interacted with many edumacated psych type 'professionals' as friends and customers .
The few I am closest to readily admit they entered their field to primarily seek answers to issues of their own.

I've asked them why I should take time to spill my guts to them, people who seemingly have yet to wrestle their own ( Read more... )

See, I like that my therapist has a "been there, done that" kinda vibe going on. She admits when you're talking about something she has no experience about but she'll also say "hey, I was where you were once, I know it's hard, you can get through it...now let's figure out what's the best route for you."

Granted not all shrinks are humble enough to admit to clients that they too have fucked up lives, however I've yet to meet one who has had a NORMAL life...I prefer the ones who're at least honest about it.

True but still, I have a hard time taking swimming lessons from some one who still cannot swim.

The thing is, being aware enough to acknowledge your own need to grow is part of being mature. If you had a therapist who said to you "well, I have my life completely in order, I'm perfect, now let me show you" would you trust that more ( ... )
