Hm. Chances are, I won't have the motivation to finish whatever it is that I've started. I'll get lazy and forget about it. But we'll see. It'll be fun for a while at the very least.
Keep it short, then.
I had never really finished anything I started on my own until I was about 20 and accidentally wrote a short story, about 3 or 4 pages long. I was actually just writing down ideas for a script but I got excited and kept going with it until there was a whole story. It was basically just me trying to be Bret Easton Ellis, but the fact that I actually finished something that I could show to people gave me the confidence to keep writing short stories. I still haven't finished anything bigger than about 12 pages or so, but I have enough short stories for a small anthology.
So, not that I know much, but if there's one advice I'd give it would be to write something short, but with a beginning, a middle, and an end.
Originality is overrated. If you come up with something totally original and new, chances are the reason it seems that way is that everyone else has come up with the same idea and decided it sucked. Decent execution of an old idea is always better than shitty execution of an 'original' one. Write what you want to write, for yourself. Oh, and enjoy yourself. Good luck.
