My take on this all, which this is just my opinion, doesn't make it right or wrong is this;

Israel has been attacked for years, everyday they woke up to horrors like we faced with September 11th. We had one huge terrorist attack that upset our country, they are forced to deal with these things on a daily basis.
Their enemies attacked them daily, made threats daily, for years straight.
Israel remained mostly silent, until now.

When do you start fighting back?
I am proud to say I support Israel.

I'm not a violent person.
War sickens me, but to try and be peaceful in this situation is suicide. With your enemies at your throat, you have every right to destroy them.

I always go with the motto;

Be peaceful, if possible.

Let me guess, the Holocaust didn't happen either? Listen up, Mel Gibson-wannabe, the Jewish People haave suffered more than any race/religion in the history of human existence. Your undecuated remarks and/or bias view that stem from your Jerry Falwell-based Christian lifestyle is nothing new yet equally damaging. Perhaps if your neighbors lobbed bombs over your fence for years on end, you would empathize with those ridiculous Israelis for deciding to take action. Perhaps your liberal view of the world would come crashing down all around you since you would be in need of a little negotiation-free responses.

and with that I also say that perhaps you need to do your homework a little bit on Israel for someone that illustrates so passionately a belief.

p.s. let's not be foolish on the holocaust. it's constantly thrown in our faces, how could we deny it? I want to hear more about the concentration camps that the Japanese were placed in by our own government at the time.

So far I personally haven't heard of people generalizing Jewish people for Israel's actions. But then again, I'm in Berkeley, CA, so things are a little different here than the rest of the country.

that doesn't surprise me at all. I sometimes feel that our country is divided coast to coast on our beliefs. sometimes that scares me.

I think geographically speaking now is a bad time for our government to be involved with Israel.
