I went out and bought a tea kettle and pepper mill today. It suddenly struck me that I had neither. I boiled water in the kettle. It worked. I was not cheated. It made it's horrible banshee's shriek like a good kettle should. I don't know who decided tea kettles should be made to create the most horrible shrill pitch of all time, but they do. Cooking thanksgiving dinner is cool. You get all the nummy food, and can constantly excuse yourself away to the kitchen, thus avoiding the dottering relatives. No way am I giving this job back to my mom. I'd rather hammer nails into my kneecaps than try to slavage out some form of conversation with my grandfather.
