Summary: Jordan is not all things to Flynn.
Jordan is an architect. She understands how things are made, how they are built up, how they fit together. She understands people, too. She understands what makes them tick. She understands what makes Flynn tick. She knows that Flynn needs certain things, he needs someone stable, he needs someone to love, he needs someone to cherish, he needs someone to feel passionate about. Jordan is not all of these things, but she is happy with two for four. She loves him, and she needs him in ways that he needs her.
Their relationship is quite simple, and it is based on two things. Love and respect. He loves her, and she respects him. The reverse is true as well. She gets what she needs out of him. She does not need a jealous boyfriend to fight people when men tell her that she'd look great in a skirt and blouse instead of her jeans and t-shirt. She knows the value of her body, and she loves it, and she will wear whatever makes her feel comfortable and not give a damn what others say or think. She does not need someone to mansplain to her how good she is at what she does. She is entirely aware of how talented she is, and she knows exactly how hard she worked for it. She does not need to be the little woman. But she also does not need a sexual relationship. She is not a sexual being. In the years they are together, Flynn and Jordan will have sex a handful of times, and for a very specific purpose.
But that doesn't mean that it isn't a valid relationship, or a non-affectionate one, or even one lacking in the physical aspect. They touch each other all the time. Flynn kisses her temples, and she works the knots out of his shoulders. He loves to feel the smoothness of her legs after she's shaved them, and she loves to run her fingers through his shaggy hair. They spend evenings on end curled up in front of the television, warm bodies entangled. She loves to cuddle with him, he's so good at it. She loves the way his body dwarfs hers, how he's all arms and legs and warmth, and how he'll wrap around her and hold her close. She loves that he cherishes her. She loves that even though she is not all things to him, he needs this from her. Lying here like this, in his embrace, she is perfectly fine with two for four.
