Then on Sunday I watched Chelsea vs Arsenal on the televison - and for the first time in my life, I was cheering on Arsenal.

Ah, tell him to suck it up. It's the price of success - the world hates you. We had it for practically the entire 90's and our legacy lives on. I'm sure we're still the most hated team in England! Shame they don't give a trophy for that, actually...
