Let’s hope that the owners of the Hockliffe village shop don’t base their annual stock forecast on this weekend’s sales, as if they do they’ll be ordering 40,000 Soleros too many. This is a good example of an excellent entry, well written and amusing, that required no comment whatsoever. Still, I've left one anyway.

When I woke up this morning, it was 28.2 celsius. Air con may be necessary, or at least a big fan.

Mmmm, nice n toasty. I find that if you imagine it's cold and frosty outside, the interior heat becomes tolerable - almost pleasurable.

But I agree on the fan. Evidence from my life to date suggests that if I fork out for an air con unit, Britain will be immediately plunged into a cold snap. But the thought of sleeping in the relatively pokey back bedroom rather than our lovely beamed front room makes me sad.

Glad you are in and embarking on unpackage, if it makes you feel any better (it wont) I'm sitting in an office at an unhealthy 35 degrees. Let us know when you have unpacked the Karaoke and we can bring you gifts including one of those knitted loo roll covers.

I don't recommend the Cool Air Misr humidifier sold in Argos for £24.99. It doesn't seem to have mad much of a difference, bugger.

Or Cool Air Mist humidifier as we call it in Essex. Misr is a word used exclusively in Norfolk and is not to be used in intelligent conversation.

Depressingly, 'they' say that you need to pay £200 for a good one.

...

That'll be the sound of me getting the fan out of the loft then.
