Hey you know how I said we'd only be getting one more rat?  Yeah I totally lied about that.

See, Albert really had his heart set on one of the little black babies before I had even brought any home, while I had fallen for one of the two I'd picked to start with.  So we decided to compromise.

I like them.
I dunno about the names... Though I'm leaning toward Maurice because then every time I see him I could say "MauuurEEEce" like Gaston does in Beauty and the Beast.

it's funny because marcel is the name of this famous french flute dude, and his last name is moyse, which kinda sounds like maurice. it's also the name of ross' monkey on friends.

anyway, I kinda like maurice for a rat name.

The meaning of Maurice:

"The name is of Latin origin and means something like dark skinned or Moorish. It is also alternately believed to have come from the Irish or Gaelic name Muirgheas meaning “seafarer”. If derived from the latter source it can be traced back to the Phoenician term “mauharim” which meant “easterner”.

Maurice was the name of several famous people including Saint Maurice the Martyr, Emperor Maurice of the Byzantine Empire, Maurice Gibb one of the three siblings that made up the BeeGees, Maurice Ravel a famous composer, Maurice Sendak an author of books for children etc."

He's not dark, but he is from the East! (Florida is significantly more east than here.) I like Maurice.

We are definitely tied between Maurice and Pascal, which means "relating to Easter," since we brought him home on Easter weekend. I think I'm leaning towards Maurice.

We almost named him Claude, but then we found out that it comes from the Latin for "lame" or "crippled." Yikes!
