do you have some idea about what kind of law you are interested in? is it possible for you to first get a job/internship in that field, to make sure your interest will be sustained?

My mom is an attorney. She loves her job and finds it very rewarding both financially and psychologically. She does medical malpractice DEFENSE (keyword, she's not an ambulance chaser) and defense of small businesses against discrimination and negligence claims, and she calls criminal law "boring." If you do real-esate, tax, or bankruptcy law you don't go to court or have that many dead-on cases, but you make way more money. Trial law is very stressful in terms of workload and actual trials. My mom enjoys it, however, and so do many others. Law school can be a very good tool, though, for many other things besides actually becoming an attorney, so it is definitely something that everyone should consider.
