Hello. My name is Yuna (please note: my real name!). I am Korean and a college student in Seattle.
1. Picture(s) of yourself.
(probably the picture that best portrays how I really look)
(Also view icon for a vector image of the same picture)
2. Nerdy hobbies.
Video Games: I live to hear the words, “Your steps are amazing!” (from Dance Dance Revolution). I currently hold 40 AAs, and my last attempt on Max300 ended with a “Failed” screen, 5 arrows away from the very end. At home, I am known at the arcade for being the best Pump it up player. I can play up to level 9 on doubles (though I’m coming close to beating my first level 10). Other than DDR and Pump it up, my experience with video games is somewhat limited. I love Harvest Moon, Grand Theft Auto and Mario RPG. The first time I played FF7 was when Sephiroth proved to be too much for my older brother. One day I decided to open my brother’s file and - voila - I beat the game (I had to wake my brother up so that we could watch the ending together; what a great way to start off his day: finding out his sister can kick his butt at video games).
Anime/Manga: My current obsession is Naruto - both anime and manga. And when there’s nothing else to do, I spend that time at Border’s, drinking a venti decaf drip coffee with steamed soy milk while reading such mangas as Paradise Kiss, INVU and Kare Kano.
Reading: I have always been a huge book worm. I love reading books on psychology - Emotional Intelligence, Feeling Good, Please Understand Me, The New Diary, Journal to self, and The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens to name a few. I am also obsessed with the story of King Arthur - Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Guenevere (by Rosalind Miles), King Arthur and the Legends of the Round Table (by Sir Malory), and of course, the Once and Future King. Other books I loved - Memoirs of a Geisha, Geisha: a life, The Chosen, The Little Prince, Pride and Prejudice and The Good Earth. My list would not be complete without the Redwall series by Brian Jacques - but then again, my obsession died for this series after I read each of his books at least thirty times (no exaggeration here - I read one book per day for at least a year when I was in middle school). Now, I can’t stand any of his books.
Writing: I love to write. I mostly write personal anecdotes and essays. Sometimes I’ll write fiction. Somewhere on my top ten list of “things to do before I die,” I have “write a kick-butt novel.”
Graphic Design: I love Adobe Photoshop. It was once a dream of mine to design for a Korean stationary company - I believe I have both the cutesy graphics and (Engrish) quotes down solid (ex: “You make me happiness and full of joy”).
3. A brief educational history.
Current GPA: 3.51
Freshman in college
Major: Psychology
Minor/Major?: English
- Attended Magnet schools since elementary school
- I suppose you could say I “skipped” a grade when I took all my 9th grade classes in 8th grade
- I was put “back a grade” when I transferred in the middle of Freshman year to a regular program. I transferred after finishing one semester which marked the halfway point in my seven classes. The school I transferred to was on block schedules (that had just finished four full courses) - therefore I had to retake all seven classes again in order to receive full credits for each.
4. Hours spent on the internet daily and how you spend time on the 'net.
I probably spend three hours a day on the internet: reading livejournals (and writing in my own), reading message boards (ddrfreak, ddrseattle, webhostingtalk), working on my domain (sunnysideup.nu), and reading manga (10kcommotion.com or naruto at narutofan.com).
5. Other nerdy tidbits that make you unique or make you feel nerdy among your peers.
a) When I was younger, I would pretend my markers were people. Blue and Pink were dating. Red liked Blue. Purple liked Red. Green and Yellow were also dating. Black liked Yellow. And Brown didn’t like anyone nor did anyone like him (Sad!).
b) My record number of hours studying in one day is 14 (this is along with a normal 9-hours of sleep).
c) Both my brother and I understood the animal dialects in Brian Jacques’ books so well that we could imitate their speech and immediately know which animal the other was imitating (I liked to imitate the rabbit and mole speech the best!).
Edit: It occurs to me that I have not sold my nerdy side well enough. That being said, I'll add more info:
1. I am obsessed with the Myer-Briggs personality tests
- I am an
INFJ- I've had a five hour convo with a friend on the different types of personalities
- I claim to have the ability to figure out a person's personality type after a single meeting
- I spend hours upon hours analyzing my personality in my journal
- I nearly have the "Please understand me" book memorized (in terms of all the ideas - not verbatim!). I wanted to have this memorized so that after I figure a person's personality, I would be able to understand the person's faults, interests, etc.
2. When I said I would read manga at Borders, by that, I meant I would stay, reading every manga Borders had to offer
- I used to own several anime/manga webpages (battle angel alita, kare kano, and started an anime reviews webpage)
- one of my webpages got featured on some popular anime search engine
3. I used have my own webhosting business
- I was at the webhostingtalk.com forums 24/7 (made offers there, advertised, etc)
