More playing

I've acquired a really nice f1.8 50mm lens, and a set of studio lights. Just a two flash set-up with various soft boxes and brollies. But with the strobes I already have it gives me 5 lights to *play* with, so this morning I've been trying such tricks as over-saturating areas deliberately and then bringing the detail back in RAW and Photoshop. Huh. This is post-process, right?

I like it - the blown out foreground is good, but I find the colored top half of the background distracting - if it were a "forest" or a "town", it wouldn't be so confusing, but while it's related to the wizards' clothing colorwise, it doesn't add anything to the image othewise.

(Yes, I'm being nit-picky, which is making me feel guilty. I hope I don't sound awful. *wibble*)

The coloured background is actually where the table ends and the curtains start. It wasn't actually in there for any reason other than that's where my curtains are :) My only concern was the foreground, I'd not noticed the background, so you have a valid point...I need to pay attention/
