We had DSL in our apartment and switched to cable when it wasn't available in our home. Cable ran us about $44/month. We just made the switch to DSL (now available) last week. We'll be paying $24/month.
So yes, cheaper.
I had no reliability problems at our apartment minus after one horrible storm when the whole state of Ohio was experiencing problems. So far, the speed here has been great and no disconnects in a week. (Though the speed is somewhat reduced it's nothing that impairs my work. Just makes downloading/uploading a smidge slower. But again, nothing that frustrates me when working on the website/etc.)
Thanks for your insight! Now I just have to find a service provider. Verizon had a really good deal ($19.99/month), but it doesn't serve my lil' ol' town.
I asked the other mammas at my play date yesterday about it, and most of them were all, "Huh?" One said, "What's DSL?" Then I geeked out and explained the acronym. :)
