Plot Bunnies Strike Again

Jul 09, 2007 21:26

...I've just watched Eragon and I'm feeling very inspired. It's not that the movie was great... I mean, it struck me too much as an amalgamation of Starwars, Lord of the Rings, Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders, and Lloyd Alexander's Prydain Chronicles. Which is fine with me, really. I loved all of those series, and thus I like similar stories. Plus I ( Read more... )

...You're silly. Hahaha. But don't worry - I get inspired from completely random things too (though this isn't that random...), like... magic 8 balls... -____-;;

I actually like the idea a lot too!! We seriously need to buy ourselves some writing slaves and soon :D

<3 I have to agree, magic 8 balls ARE random. But I've probably had things strike inspiration that are just as odd/retarded.

Won't YOU be my writing slave, pretty please?

Oh wait no, you are the Fanarts slave. Heee.

Dragons are love. As in... seriously love! *♥ them* Then of course, there are shape-shifting dragons, but let's not go there yet! *is pwned by Varen*

Have you read Eragon? Gods, the movie sucked. They butchered the book when they made the movie. I watched up to where they came to Angela, and it was all over for me. I can't even name all the things they did wrong. (Well, I could, but I won't)

(sigh)

I can't believe Christopher Paolini let them do that to his book...

Anyway, did you get my fanart? Did you like if you did? I don't mind if you didn't.

And I was re-reading Rotd - I am a dork like that - and I was wondering, how DID Shumba get chosen as a guard? How did all of them? Do they have to take some kind of Methos Laen too?

I mean, SHUMBA?

I can where Erakil became one... (love him!)

First: I nearly peed myself laughing when I read this. Second: You make an excellent point. SHUMBA? I want to hear Inky's response to this....

Inkslinger! Hello! I have another question actually - amazing, huh? I'm chalk full o' them.

Thanobia is the dragon, Methron the Serpent, Namuncura the Phoenix, and the Lion would belong to...?

It feels like certain countries have adopted certain gods, and I noted this by the way they - uh - cursed. You know - Dragon! By the Phoenix! etc.

And what about the leftover countries?

Um, erm, RESURRECTION! 1/4 of you HP has returned, Inkslinger. 1/4 of your MP has returned, Inkslinger.

I understand completely about what you're referring to. I've been reading the Dragonriders of Pern series since I was 13, and I still get giddy when reading them. My 8th grade teacher introduced me to it when we read The Smallest (Littlest?) Dragonboy in the literature book. And after that? Not a chance of not reading it. And let me tell you the desire I had for at least a firelizard. Still have, actually, but the edge has worn off a little with time.

Did you know they're making a movie that should come out in 2008? I'm so nervous about it it ain't funny. If they do what they did with Eragon... There's gonna be a riot storming down the production studio's doors. There's also another book coming out in November, but another co-authored by Todd McCaffrey ( ... )

*replies two years later* They're making a MOVIE of Dragonriders of Pern?!?! Ahhh! Those books are so much fun... I hope the movie do the series justice. I really, really do, or I will be bitterly disappointed. *fingers crossed*

AND YES, there was a slashed Blue/Green pairing! From the books set way ealier. What were their names.. P'tero and M'lang or something like that? Ahhh, I remember being so excited to read that. (Of course then I went fanfiction searching and I think Anne McCaffrey had declared death on fanfictioners, which is really terribly mean.. hmm.)

No! Please, ramble! I enjoyed it thoroughly. *glomples*

I really *love* Eragon! The book, I mean. I didn't really enjoy the movie at all. Couldn't watch everything, actually, since it was too boring for me.
Mmmhh... I never got around reading Eldest though...
I read Eragon in french, by the way. Because I need to draw the line somewhere! (Explaination: I read/watch/write/etc too much in english.)
Mmmhh.... Pern series?? Care to give me more information about it?? ...Since I never heard of it...? -dodge rocks-

Oh, boy. Another idea, huh? -siigh-

You should really get back to Rotd. coughandTWHcough

And you should forget all about TWH and this Dragonrider thing.

-serious glare-

....Okay, okay, I'll admit that I'm pretty curious about what what you're going to do with this dragonrider idea... >.< Shame on me ( ... )

Oooh, in answer to your question- the dragonrider series is called Dragonriders of Pern, and it's by Anne McCaffrey. They have lots of Dragon goodness.. but there are like, a million in the series. ^^;; But as for my dragonrider idea, I sort of got another story plot idea just as abruptly, and I think I'm going to smuck them both together to = one story. But it is very much on the backburner for now. Rotd is the priority, and then WH. But mostly Rotd recently. Which is why your present is taking sooo long. *cries* I am so sorry. Please forgive me? It will be ready some day. <3

And if you feel guilty for liking the sidestories, imagine how I feel when writing them! *laugh* Poor Rotd has been neglected far too much. But! I am 1/3 done the next chapter, and have challenged myself to write 500 words a day. So far so good, so things should progress quickly.

Thank you for everything my dear! *love for all of eternity*

<3 Inky
