My mother has Alzheimer's and is slipping away mentally. Physically, she will probably live for another 10-15 years. I'm not well enough to go see her ( Read more... )

Yikes, honey! That's a pile of bad news. Sorry things are so sucky right now... but there better be a huge batch of good karma around the corner for you.

Call me if you need to vent! Maybe meet for coffee? I haven't seen you in ages... (not since last year's Figgy Pudding, I think...!)

Thanks, Dina. When I feel up to public exposure again, I'll take you up on that coffee date. In the meantime, be happy and well, eh?

Simply put: there are people in the world that value and love you, Mac, your family and felines. Take from that what you will.

Thanks, bro. I miss you and think about you.

Give my best to Dana and kiss Sonja on the head for me, will you? And stay well.

I'm still trying to work you into what I'm calling the "Family Song."
I'll sing it to you the next time we see you, and maybe you can suggest the verse. It's my stand-by for putting her to sleep, so you'll be immortalized as soon as we figure it out. :)

The theme is loosely based on a Bach fugue, so someday she might hear it and say "That's Auntie Kathryn's song!"

Wow! I'm flattered. I guess I'll have to make the effort to come over more often so she has some idea what Auntie Kathryn looks like.

Still hoping to see you at Michelle's on Friday. Let me know what I can do to help as part of Sonja's 'extended family'...

I wish I had something helpful and supportive to say, but all I can say is this: I hear you. I'm listening. And I'm sorry this is happening.

The fact that you read my post and took the time to respond at all is helpful and supportive. I've followed your travels via LJ for a short while now, but I never imagined that you might also be aware of me.

This is my first experience of being cared about by someone I've never met or corresponded with. I'm stunned and grateful.
