Okay, so a lot of people have been saying that they wished that we had stuck with one version of this newer method before just scrapping it.. so here let me give you some totals
( Read more... )
what's truly important here is you had an idea, attempted it, realized the complications therein, met with your other mods and came to the conclusion to go in a new direction. you took *action* to make the community unique and workable.
you kept an eye out to make sure there was no cheating. you put up several mods to ensure the vote was counted properly. and are even working on a 'panel' of judges to see that 'bloc' voting doesn't automatically win the award. how that can be perceived as manipulating or bias is beyond me.
Thanks for seeing this. I knew that there would be a lash out to the changes, I mean it is change... not many people like that. Especially after we just went through all the drama over the self nominations.. but I just thought that I would rather have a few people upset that we changed it again, rather than have 90 odd people upset that they didn't even get a chance to compete, or even worse that they thought they weren't given "enough" of a sample to be judged fairly on.
It was a huge risk, and it had huge complications, but I really think that we will rise out of this mess a stronger and better place.
I do want to apologize for my previous post back in the "lash out" thread. I am very fond of this new idea to be honest. I play some "off" charies..Kennedy..Gwen..ones that in the other system wouldn't have a big turn out of nominations and this new idea is more fitting to those characters, which indeed is nice. I will be the first to admit I did take the "popularity votes" personal. I believe I speak for everyone that it is nice to have your work recognized, and to have others think it was won on popularity stung a bit. But, after some thought, you are right (though I think you still may find a bit of that in any system you devise) having a panel will indeed help on that front. Again, forgive my last post. I did not mean to come off as so cross. This idea is good, just wish for my own laziness sake (lol) that it had come before I spent time nominating my charies. I hope this turns out as you hope it will. Good Luck.
No need to apologize. We expected it, and I think we handled it the best that we could. I am also very glad to see that you noticed that this format will give the smaller roles a bigger opportunity.
Also I assure you that the only downfall in our voting for that first round was lack of voters. The players were all very close together with their voting and if we had maybe even 10 more voters the results could have been very different.
Oh and believe me, I wish it had come out before people had done nominations... because I did nominations for my characters and that was work!

*applauds your efforts*
