Okay, so through the grape vine I have heard little rumors once again that the awards we handed out this past weekend have been accused of the ever famous "cult" voting. Which most of you know that you will never get away from. I have tried a million different ways to get around it, and the truth of the matter is that this past round we only had 19 ( Read more... )

What is going to define the difference between the small RPG's and the larger ones?

I am going to leave that up to the discretion of the game. I think games that have a cast listing of more than 10 characters should be considered a larger game, however I think that the moderator of the game would have a better idea if they are a larger game or a smaller game. I suppose you could also go by the number of people you have actually playing in the game. I know that in my game Land of the Joss, we have only 6 people playing, but there is a handful of characters that each of us play, just to keep plot moving along, but I would probably still consider it a large game due to the number of characters we have actually posting in it.

It might be a judgement call for the moderator. It might also be a brigde we have to cross once it happens. Who knows, I might do this, and only have two games nominate and it be a total flop, but we won't know until we try right?

So I figure since I am starting it off with the one on one's it gives us at least a month to work out the wrinkles on defining this.

ok, I know a few games where there are maybe 4 actual people but over 10 characters. That's why I asked.

Also will there be voting for both het and slash 1 on 1's this round? *eyes her 1 on 1 list*
I have way more then three...lol

Yep! I am making the categories right now, and I am trying to cover as much ground as possible for the actual games by dividing it by Het/Slash/Non-Pairing, for Buffy only, Angel Only, and Crossovers. So there will be 9 seperate categories for your games to fall into.

Also since I am splitting them up so much, we are getting rid of the solo, and song fics to make room for more tailored categories, and hopefully a bit less to read... although who knows it might end up with even more to read, but it should be fun!

The limit of three I think would be more for individual character nominations. So even though someone could have 20 games nominated, if they had one character playing in all 20 games they would have to sort out 3 posts to nominate that they felt was their best work for the actor and actress categories.

as for defining what makes a small/large game, my two cents is number of characters. there are games where 1 person is juggling many chars, and that's a feat in and of itself. better to recognize the scope of the game than the people within, because we *are* breathing life into the characters...

Very true, considering I play oh... who knows maybe more than half the cast at Land of the Joss, and at least a dozen at Sunny_Dale, but in the same instance I also play at Days of Our Joss, while that is just a for the hell of it game, there are only 5 of us playing and we all just use whatever characters we all have in our catalog, but the manner of pacing for that game and the set-up would actually put it in the small game category.

Which is why unless it comes down to a game wanting to be considered small but they have a cast of 12 players and only 12 characters, I will probably have to have all five mods take a vote once we take a look at the community.

For the time being, I think we are going to leave it up to the moderator's choice where they think there game fits in... at least until someone pitches a fit. ;)

Hon, you and I both know you run a fair competition. I am glad you are not letting the naysayers get you down. The best part of the voting is the reading of the samples. Sure it takes time, last month it took be a while but it was so worth it. That said congrats for running a wonderful awards.

Would that be 3 noms in each category? Or 3 noms in general?

For the game category you can flood it with however many games you want. They just have to be active within the past two months.

For Character noms, it is three nominations per character, per category.

So if you played Doyle, and he was in 7 games, and four were Angel Slash, you could only nom the character from 3 of those games. But if the other three were Crossover Non-Ship you could nom him three times in the other category!

I don't really have any comments regarding the new round of noms/voting, other than I think the inclusion of the one-on-one and small-format games is wonderful.

What I would like to do is go on record as applauding the Moderators of the Josscars for being so honest, straightforward and forthcoming about the nomination, voting and tally process. It's unfortunate that the RPG community continues to weather this sort of pointless drama, but I did want to recognize lollobrigida and the other Mods' efforts at addressing it and attempting to eliminate it.

Thanks, for the kind words. I truly believe that we are here for the games, and not for personal gain of any kind. The main reason I tried to make this place stand out was in the hopes that games would see it as more of a chance to let the talent of their writers be seen when most times it is hard to do that. We have communities like gimmie_love yet no one can force you to leave praise and feedback, plus there are SO many games out there that it is hard to even know where to start.

I know that FerretGirl puts a lot of effort into the rpg_herald each day, and we all get to see just how much writing does get done just on a daily basis within our RPG communities. I only hope that by taking the time to actually give people threads and posts to read that we are saying to others, Here... look what my cast is capable of. Rather than, Hey look what we won ( ... )
