1- Why be moral? What is the source or authority for moral behavior?

I believe that subconsciously people are moral because they know it is in that way that society best functions.

Q: Why don’t we run around stabbing out people’s eyes?
A: Because society would never accept that kind of behavior.
Q: But what if they did?
A: Then it’d be acceptable
