It would be helpful if Livejournal told you when other people add you as a friend. Just realised that someone I met ages ago friended me and I didn't notice. I would have added them back immediately if I had. Oops

Yes, LJ could do with a twitter like notification service that folk are following you. I know I certainly don't check my friends page that often to see if I have any new followers.
How's life with you? How is the job hunting going/gone?
Life is adequate. Job hunting is happening, albeit slowly. There are also other Plans afoot involving business start ups, which I will be spamming LJ and twitter with shortly ;)
Weirdly, while you were the unnamed person referenced in the above entry, it appears the 'adding' didn't take and hence your comment was screened. Quite lucky you did comment, or I might not have noticed and you would have remained unfriended!
Goodness, I had the same thing happen to me recently, and I have my settings set to notify me upon people adding me. I think I've come to the conclusion that sometimes LJ is Just Weird. :)
A 6hr drive? It's certainly worth it for good company (but I am a non-driver, Peter would possibly disagree!). I miss having other people around to just waffle with too. Now I have to go look up brickwars. *grin*
I hope you were home not too long after 1am. Did you get enough sleep? I seem to have spent most of today yawning my head off!
If you have me listed as a friend, I can read all your locked posts whether I add you to my 'friends list' (posts that show up on my friends page) or not.
If you do not list me as a friend I can still add you as a friend, but I will not see your locked posts.
If I have you listed as a friend, you can read all of my locked posts, whether or not you choose to add me. But I do not lock any of my posts, because I do not want to restrict reading rights to those people whose posts I want on my friends page - anyone clicking to my page can read all my posts.
I'm not trying to pimp one platform over another or anything, but I will note that this is one of the big current changes that Dreamwidth has made to the LJ codebase. Instead of the concept of "friends", you can set two flags on people - "Grant access" and "Subscribe to". It neatly seperates out the two concepts that are sandwitched together under "friends" on LJ.
Totally unrelated, and apologies to the better half for hijacking her LJ, but a while back I was bored and looking at the list of people who shared both interests and friends with me. I noted that you are one of the people who list Ikariam as an interest in their profile.
I've only met you once (I think), and we didn't exactly get to know each other as there was a meet going on, so this might seem a little forward... ;)
Still playing Ikariam? If so, what server(s) do you play on?
