Character: Terra Branford
Timeline: In the midst of the game. (See Background.)
Personality: Before escaping Kefka's clutches, Terra was quite emotionless. The only time she displayed any ounce of humanity was when she was fluffing the fur of her beloved Moogles. But the girl wasn't happy remaining so dead inside. Once the Slave Crown was removed from her head, she began to question why she felt so empty. Additionally, she questioned why she was able to kill so easily and not feel much guilt.
As time progressed, she began to realize that she had been groomed to be a killing machine for the Gestahlian Empire. Therefore she hadn't been raised in an environment that allowed her to express herself freely.
Once she has a chance to live in such an environment, however, a very different Terra will emerge. At the point I am taking Terra for the game (if accepted, of course), she is only beginning to feel a connection to the humans around her. Through said connection, she will, eventually, find a reason to stand up against Kefka and his minions. But, for now, she is forced to remain in hiding until she understands her emotions as well as her heritage. (Turning into an Esper whenever her temper boils or when she is afraid hasn't helped her very much. If anything, it has made her even more tentative about that side of her nature. But, with time, she will become comfortable with that too.)
Therefore, more than anything, Terra's personality is on a precipice. She is caught between the emotionlessness of her past and the possibility of caring for others in the future. Additionally, the unmistakable bravery that she displays at the end of the game has just begun to bloom. The girl doesn't know her full potential yet, but she is on the road to realizing it.
Background: Born to an Esper named Maduin and a Human named Madeline in the Land of the Espers, Terra was an oddity from the beginning. Unfortunately, she was a powerful oddity. The Gestahlian Empire realized this when they ransacked the Land of the Espers and kidnapped Terra from her dying mother. (Maduin had been supposedly killed in the onslaught beforehand - thus he was unable to protect Madeline or Terra. Later on, however, it is revealed that he did not actually die.)
From that point onward, Terra was raised by the Gestahlian Empire as a weapon of mass destruction. Little is known about her time before becoming Kefka's slave. However, what is known is that she thoroughly enjoys fluffing the fur of Moogles. This seems to be the only pass time that allows her some respite from being a slave. It also reveals a sweet quirk about the girl. She is not only a weapon for the Gestahlian Empire, she is also a normal, teenage girl.
Unfortunately, Terra, once again, was not allowed to remain somewhat normal. Once she became Kefka's slave, she lost any and all will of her own. He placed a Slave Crown on her head and she was forced to do whatever he pleased. (One of the things he made her do right off the bat was kill fifty Gestahlian soldiers. She did so easily and proved herself to him.)
Yet the girl was destined for greater things than being Kefka's lap-dog.
On a mission to Narshe to find an Esper frozen in the ice, Terra and her company (Biggs and Wedge) were overwhelmed by the power that they encountered. Biggs and Wedge were flung from the mine and Terra was knocked out completely.
When she came to, she realized that she had been rescued by Arvis (a resident Narshe) - though, not all was well. Because of the power the frozen Esper had exhibited, Terra developed a case of Amnesia. This worked in her favor considering Arvis removed the Slave Crown from her head. If she had remembered her duties or the orders Kefka had given her, she would have been reluctant to let him do so.
However, as the girl's luck goes, the local police caught wind of her location. Arvis attempted to help her escape, but to no avail. Terra was cornered and caught by a man named Locke Cole and eleven Moogles. She was then taken to King Figaro.
Kefka was no fool, unfortunately. He approached King Figaro not long after and demanded that he hand over Terra. The King lied and said that he did not know where the girl was. Kefka's temper then got the better of him and he tried to burn the castle to the ground.
Fortunately, King Figaro, Locke Cole and Terra were able to escape on the backs of Chocobos.
In the midst of this ride is where Terra will enter this game (if accepted).
Abilities/Additional Notes: Trance (Morph): During battle, Terra can transform into her Esper form for a limited time. This time is dependent upon the number of AP she has obtained after battle. While an Esper, all her stats are doubled.
Like Celes, Terra can learn some Magic naturally. The spells she can learn include:
Magic:
Cure
Fire
Poisona
Drain
Raise
Fira
Teleport
Cura
Dispel
Firaga
Arise
Holy

When Terra dons Magitek Armor, she has four extra abilities. They are: Bio Blast, Banisher, Magitek Missle, and Confuser."

Note: A lot of these powers are unknown to Terra at the moment. But I thought I would list all of her abilities anyway.
