I'm looking at you, Elie and Sally...

What's a Potin Coin? Google seems to hate me today.

Thank you please.

Cast Bronze (’Potin’) Coin

A potin coin is one cast out of bronze.
A passage I nicked.

One of the most rewarding, most fascinating and most economical series of Celtic coins to collect is the bronze and potin coins of Gaul. All you need is a modest monthly budget and one good book to guide you. Bronze Coins of Gaul is that one good book.

I guess they are of Celtic or Gaul origin or something?

I dont know anything really about how they came to be or their strict use but this is what one is. How did google not help you? I just put "Potin coin" into it and the first 4 links that came up gave me the info you see here. :p

I had a quick look. Apparently, potin is a "natural alloy of Copper, Zinc, Lead and Tin"
