writing issues
Getting close to the end of The Metawars. It's taken longer than I'd hoped (missed the 6/15 goal, missed the 6/22 goal, so I'm shooting to be done by this Sunday), but it'll be done soon. Lab work
Now that my trials are done (for now) I feel my motivation slipping away. Before it was a very simple matter of arriving at the lab early, running all the tests, setting up for the next day, then leaving. Simple. Clearly defined beginnings and ends to the day. Game of Thrones, episode 10
Many are hailing the first season of Game of Thrones as some of the finest TV in recent years. I think they're right. The explosive finale was a great conclusion to ten weeks of great character-driven storytelling. There were plenty of cliffhangers in the finale for all of the characters. That's right, readers. Ned Stark is dead. Surprised? It's a huge shocker, certainly, that the main character of the season and the man set out to be the main character of the show is dead before the first season is out. Before I get too much into Eddard, there are other aspects of the episode that want discussing.

some thoughts before bed
Finally finished that stupid Hothead chapter, which took me far too long to write. It's not very good, it's sort of confusing, and I'm not sure how much it does to advance the plot. My suspicion is that it'll either be heavily edited or cut in later edits, but it stands for now because I want to get this done. I'm still looking at a June 15th ( Read more... ) -
Game of Thrones, episode 8
Let's break down The Pointy End (scripted by GRRM himself).
This episode was about building things up and raising the stakes. Comparatively little action compared to the last few episodes, but there was plenty of character stuff and cranking up the tension, both on personal and on nation-wide levels.

I made it my goal to finish this draft of The Metawars by June 15th. I'm close to the end so it should be easy going. Instead, I don't feel motivated to finish and am instead world building for my super book. Game of Thrones, episode 7
The problem with having to watch episodes on HBO GO, often a day later than when they air, is that there's already plenty of fantastic reviews online. Regardless, here's my take on the pivotal episode 7: You Win or You Die.

Yet another violent episode. Let's break it down.
First scene we're treated to an excellent bit with Robert, Eddard and Cersei. Mark Addy continues to impress me, whether he's showing happiness, anger, irritation, or being melancholy.
