Make your schools places of learning where the students accept each other. As they go out into the world, they will meet all sorts of different people - if you can teach them tolerance, along with reading, writing, mathematics, science, history, language, etcetera, they will emerge from the Alameda schools ready to engage peacefully with others they meet in the world, and see similarities and common bonds rather than just differences. They will truly be educated.
Thank you for your deep consideration, and I hope that you will see your way clear to adopt the Safe Schools curriculum. It is important. This is not just politics, this is people's pain, this is creating peace.
