My kids are not my friends

Nor do I want them to be until they are much older. Sometimes my kids really don't like me. That's ok. Is it hard? Of course. I like to be liked. I love my kids and I want them to like me. It's hard when I know they are really upset with me. But it's worth it. It's worth it because I know that God has given me the responsibility to raise them into

My kids like to tell me that "Your not my friend anymore!" and to that I say "I don't want to be your friend - I'm your MOM!"

And I do have a very strong friendship with my mom.

Yeah me too! My mom and I are friends now but that is cause I'm 30 :D

I'm not a mom, but I have a mom. She is my friend now, though she wasn't when I was little. What you say makes a lot of sense, though it sounds very difficult.

My mom is totally my friend now. It is really hard sometimes, I don't like to upset them but it's worth it in the end.

I agree... my goal is not to be my kid's friend... they actually are required to heed what I say. At this point, taking my advice into consideration is not an option! THEY MUST DO IT!!!! or David will make them.. kidding (about David making them).

So... they can not like me, but they must respect me. One day I hope they will thank me. Until then, I will rely on having friends tell me how cool I am (hint hint).

tee hee I actually used to tell Mark that my life verse was John 15:14 "You are My friends if you do what I command you."

You are an excellent parent with children who give me hope that I can raise a boy so I am not surprised that you think like me.
