In Which I Discuss My Armpits, At Length

Mar 19, 2009 22:38

Remember a couple of years ago I expressed my solidarity with Sarah's transition-related laser hair removal, by having my armpits lasered?

I've had a little bit of regrowth since, all of the thin and fluffy variety. In the name of Science, this is what it looks like these days when the hairs get 1.5 cm long, probably about six weeks since I shaved ( Read more... )

Interesting - I can handle thermolysis of my face without anything for the pain, but am thinking that armpits could be more painful.

I suppose the use of "blend" makes the difference. I would not want to slow down my facial work, though, so sticking with plain thermolysis works for me.

Intriguing. When I went for facial clearance (I didn't have much body hair to begin with) electrolysis was all there was. Started with thermolysis then switched to blend at the end (whole process took about four years)

I have to admit that I was able to cope with both without anaesthetic creams, but then, I found transcendental meditation useful (spot the aging hippy although I was a young hippy at the time :o) I amused my electrologist by falling asleep on the couch more than once :o)

Of the two, I'd agree that blend was certainly the less noticeable.

Oh, and Sarah? Stop whining, girl :op

But as we know, your wife is a wimp. Mind you even I swallow an interesting cocktail of drugs when having the face IPL'd.

good luck with that! I used to pay £5 a session a couple of years or so back, so that's a good price for a student

I see another fan of the CRC's hair removing department! :-)

It will be even closer to your work, when the city centre departments move to the northern campus this Autumn.

I did ask her if she'd treated you, and she said not. I was only her third paying victim for electrolysis!

Most of the other clients seemed to be there for the full body massage.

I usually get more than one person treating me, so everyone can get the experience they need to complete their study requirements. They don't have anywhere near as many as they could do with, so I heard a story of two girls who were doing electro on each other... one is now put off for life...
