The scene was dressed up like something out of a domestic advertisement. It was fake and showed a glimpse of something he wasn't actually offering, but there were enough snatches of reality in between to leave the future uncompromised. It wouldn't be anything this clean, this hopeful. The rooms were flooded with light and whatever warmth the ( Read more... )

Late to this party, but have Ms. Lidner. o/ halle_lidner December 6 2011, 01:38:23 UTC
Halle entered the room and stopped in the center of it. She shifted her weight on her feet, crossing her arms over the ample chest of her fitted blazer. Surely the gray jacket and slim pencil skirt made her look like some kind of corporate-ice-queen-type, but at least she had on her most dangerous black heels below the ensemble - which hopefully gave the impression she wasn't as straight-laced as her outfit would belie.

She looked Matt over studiously. He was just a kid, barely twenty, probably. But she was here for the sake of her work, and she would have to swallow any reservations she had about this.

"You know why I'm here," she offered levelly, not really knowing fully if he did or not; his response would tell her all she needed to know.

[[ooc: Halle is here to hopefully win the part, so she can squeeze some info out of him concerning Mello on Near's behalf. ;) ]]

"If I wanted to go off what I know, I wouldn't have asked you anything," Matt pointed out. The words were a repetition of things he'd said before but in the end the auditions were a series of repetitions too, just a different kind.

The light bared her, made her paler, and he thought they made the cut of her clothes look harsher too. Halle looked more out of place than any of the others that'd passed through here and Matt just looked at her, his eyes crawling over her legs and hips to her chest. The collected way she held herself made him want to ruffle her, to shake her out of the certainty she carried, but it was still a growing emotion.

When she'd walked in, his reaction had been surprise. That was gone now and curiosity held the reins in its place. He didn't doubt the woman was here because she wanted something and he tried to guess it while he looked at her. "You're not here to marry me." The words were more of a statement than a question and he held back behind the light, blowing cigarette smoke away. "What do you want?"
