And now a rant!

I'm sorry, but it was NOT Xenophobic of me to tell you you shouldn't name your kid some Indian name! But of course then I was wrong for telling you to not be selfish. I had a middle name, in fact my grandmother's name, it's not that uncommon in my home country but everyone teased me in primary school and then even some in high school because noone else had two names and I HATED it. I tried to remove it at 17 but my mom wouldn't give her admission and there was a big fuss. I finally removed it at 25y and she isn't talking to me anymore since, has been some years.

The most ridiculous name I can remember is Gwen Stefani's second boy. I love her but god forbid, poor poor little boy.

I'm with you on this. Infact it actually reminds me of the story my mom told me on how I got my name. My dad wanted to name me Barbara, but mom refused cause she figured kids would call me Barbie. ^^; So she literally threw the baby book at my dad and it landed on a page that had Bonnie on it. And he liked it suggesting that.

My current name still gets mocked a little though mainly resulting in people asking "Where's your Clyde?" -.-
