Tai-San:The Stairs:Balancing Chi

Apr 04, 2005 10:26

Secretly glad to leave the scene in the Main Cafe behind, Tai-San would have preferred it be for other reasons, but this was what it was. Siva had run off from the Extra Cafe perhaps, the last place Tai-San had seen her sitting, and now Lex was going off on Gel and storming off to the Second Cafe. Siva, however, was her immediate concern, her aura ( Read more... )

Rounding the corner at a quickened pace, Ebony began to barrel down the stairs and noticed mid-run that Tai-San was standing near the top middle of the steps. It wouldn't have taken much to slow down....to just,...stop even....but her legs continued to run, telling herself that she was just trying to get to Siva first, quicker than Tai-San could. But the moment she reached Tai-San, her shoulder roughly smacked into the other woman. Hard, much harder than should have been natural when two people spontaneously collide. I said this wasn't finished. She thought the words at Tai-San as she grabbed onto the railing to steady herself, watching as the other woman tumbled down the stairs. Ebony made no move to grab her when she saw Tai-San teeter before the fall. She simply watched her roll, step after step until Tai-San reached the bottom. For a flash of an instant, Ebony allowed herself an inner smile that would have been only noticeable in her eyes. But the moment Tai-San's body lay at the bottom of the steps, Ebony began to run ( ... )

Racing down the stairs from the Second Cafe, Alice came to a stop midway down the second flight of stairs, horrified to find a scene she knew all too well. "Tai-San!" Alice raced down the stairs, her stomach pitching as she came to a stop, sliding down onto her knees next to Ebony. "What happened?" her voice cracked as she said it, tears coming to her eyes. "Don't, don't move her head, stop," Alice put her hand on Ebony's and gently moved it, "Run to the hospital, get a volunteer, Ebony! Do it ( ... )

Going as fast as he could manage in his new boots without falling himself, Jay made his way down the stairs. Ebony and Alice were already over Tai-San's body, and Alice was near hysterics, yelling for someone to get Patch. "Alice," Jay said in a calming, reassuring voice, "Dax has already gone to get Patch. He'll be here soon."

"We just need to leave her where she is until Patch gets here. Don't let anyone move her," he said to Alice and Ebony. Other people were on the way down, and he was worried because the automatic reaction can be to start straightening out the body, which could aggravate injuries to the spine. He stood back up to act as a guard. "Everyone, just stay back. We need to wait for Patch to get here. She's alive, just unconscious" he stated loudly to the people on the stairs.

What he wanted to do was ask Ebony what had happened, but there would be time for that later. Maybe even after Tai-San came to and could tall her side of it. Right now it was more important to keep everyone back, he'd deal with Ebony later.

Lex had followed Alice from the Second Cafe without a thought to the plate he left behind, now standing on the landing, looking down at a crumpled Tai-San with Alice and Ebony at her head. Jay was between him and the body, but every word he said sounded like garbled radio signal, none of it made sense. Was she dead? He'd just found her again, and yeah, he was in love with Siva, but, but, Tai-San ( ... )

Everything was happening so fast, and spinning out of control, Salene's head was starting to hurt, and her stomach wouldn't stop doing that sickening flip flopping thing, watching as everyone reacted. Ebony reacted badly, and Salene frowned, she hadn't meant what she'd said, but now that she'd said it and seen how Ebony reacted, well, Salene couldn't help but feel she'd hit a specific nerve. Shaking her head and closing her eyes for a second, Salene reminded herself that it didn't matter right now, what mattered was Tai-San and that was all ( ... )

At Salene's openly bitchy comment, Ebony folded her arms over her chest and gave her the most disgusted look she could possibly muster before instantly turning her back on her. God, and she actually wanted to help this woman?!! Well, it wasn't just Salene she was trying to help. If it was just that, she wouldn't have gone to all the trouble of blackmailing Jack into bugging the office. But damn if Salene couldn't be a hooch. Pointing back to the place where the, (at least in her opinion) largely ineffective city leader had just been standing, Ebony looked angrily over at Jay. She wasn't angry at him at all, but it was easy enough to see she was pissed. "Did you see that ( ... )

Lex’s outburst towards her caused a glare to take over her eyes, and before she was even really aware of what she was doing, she took a step closer to Lex. That little punk thought he could order the whole world around at his whim. Besides, what was he so worked up about? He was with Siva and not Tai San and here he was acting like Ebony had just struck down the love of his life. Damn, if you can’t make one happy, why try at more? She decided that his words weren’t really worth any reaction from her, so she choose to ignore him until he marched his way towards the hospital.

Watching as Dax and Alice took Tai San to the hospital, she waited for a few moments before she would follow them. As Salene spoke about Dax, she nodded in understanding, very thankful that once all this was figured out, Dax would be free for the night. Meeting Ebony’s look, she shrugged a bit. “ Don’t worry about it, Ebony. It was an accident.” May nodded then started on her way to the hospital. Twice in one day, not a good record.

Feeling very guilty that he was needed, and couldn't help because he'd stupidly injured his hands earlier, Jay stood by to one side. If he couldn't help, at least he could stay out of the way. Why did people always presume that Ebony was up to no good? There wasn't one amongst them who hadn't made some kind of mistake in their lives, did they want it held over their heads forever? Poor Ebony, she never had any female friends, and even her own sisters were often at odds with her. No wonder she was always so defensive. He wanted to comfort her, to stroke her arm, or take her hand, but his stupid hands were throbbing painfully, and slightly swollen from their earlier abuse ( ... )
