The Hospital: Patch/Hawk/Salene/ Jay/Ebony/Slade/Luke/Ellie/ Lex/(Tai-San/Ruby)

Apr 27, 2005 01:35

The hospital had already been busy enough, in Hawk's mind, when the two strangers had arrived. He'd stood next to Patch at Tai-San's bed, watching and going over her stats again, talking about what to do and comparing their different treatment methods. Hawk had thought nothing of going to help the strangers, but the one boy started to get kind of ( Read more... )

Luke felt instantly bad that the boy was annoyed with him for doing what was right, he felt like some kind of awkward boy who didn't know what he was doing really. But then, that's what he was, wasn't he? Sure he could administer CPR if he had to, not that he wanted to, and he knew how to stabalized sprains and minor breaks, but he was no Patch, and apparently no Hawk either. Ellie came to the rescue, asking a million questions in what seemed to be one breath, and Luke smiled at her solemnly when she looked back to him. It was a bad situation, first Tai-San, now a fire in who knew where? If it reached the city, and it could, that would be certain disaster. A fire could spread throughout all the land, it'd take a lot and be unlikely, but it was possible ( ... )

Finally! Someone walked across this room that felt as if it was closing in on him and began to check on Ruby, and from the looks of it he was the Eco healer. Slade hadn't had a lot of experience with the Eco Tribes, he'd heard of them, sure, and he knew people who knew people who could trade with them, had traded with them, but for the most part Slade understood that they kept to themselves. So...why was one here in the Mall? Working as a healer? There had been something, his brain was moving quickly, trying to think as he watched the man looking her over, when the Chosen were in town, did the Eco's..and the Technos too...oh Slade couldn't remember anymore. He hadn't lived here, he'd mostly heard stories as he passed through town, and the legendary Tribe that was mentioned was the Mall Rats, hardly any others ( ... )

If she had been any other person, her question would have never came flying out her mouth. But, it was her job to get to the bottom of everything that was newsworthy, or at least she thought it was. Giving the kid a break, she was distracted by Luke leaning close to her ear. His breath tickled her skin, but she was already too focused to let it really affect her. He was rambling again, and was obliviously uncomfortable here, but his words where correct and she nodded at him. “Yeah, you’re right. Let’s get out of here. I have a lot of work to do tonight.” She looked around the scene once more, trying to commit the two new faces to memory. Hopping off the bed, she took Luke’s hand into hers, and started for the door. Pausing for a moment, she speak with Salene about her plans for the Amulet, then actually leaving the Hospital.

As she left the Hospital, she made her way to what would be just Alice's room after tonight. Of course, she felt bad, leaving her sister alone in that room. They had shared it for so long together. ( ... )

Lex slumped himself down in a chair off to the side. Things were getting so chaotic at this point that even he didn't have the energy to keep his facade up to pace. He thought about leaving..going back to his room, maybe trying to find Siva, but he couldn't get Tai San out of his head; he couldn't imagine what would come about if anything happened to her and he wasn't around. Lex just couldn't leave her now, even though he was growing more and more irritated by the minute with these "so called" newcomers invading his territory.

Lex looked around and those who were still remaining. What a bunch of busybodies, he thought to himself. Imagine what things would be like if these people worked this hard all the time..we might have a decent mall to live in. Lex's fuse was growing shorter. He couldn't stand not knowing about Tai San. He watched as Hawk looked over the new girl. How could he be spending so much time on such a stranger when someone as precious as Tai San is just laying there. Without thinking or caring about whatever ( ... )

Her feet moved faster than she realized though each step felt frightfully heavy. She didn't want to go to the hospital...but at the same time she knew she had to. She wanted to see for herself how Tai-San was faring, even though the thought of it made her heart beat uncomfortably against her chest. Jay's voice sounded in her ears but Ebony didn't turn around until his hand was on her shoulder. She was guilty. She'd pushed Tai-San down the stairs, and somehow...someway...he knew. He knew it wasn't an accident, and now that there wasn't a crowd of people gathered around, he was going to let her know it. Her eyes caught his as she turned. They were guarded, wary and she could feel the urge to get defensive rise up even before he'd said anything.

It was an accident, and I know that you must feel terrible about it. The words cut right through her, as did the look of open sincerity in Jay's eyes. For a second she couldn't think of anything to say. He believed her. Completely. Knowing that Jay had such faith and trust in ( ... )
