Breakfast P.1: Extra Cafe: Trudy and Mouse

May 20, 2005 19:02

"Good Morning Mouse," Trudy was a bit more chipper than she had been when she'd woken up, glad now to see someone show up for breakfast. She had begun to think that no one was going to wake up this morning, and that all of this food would be wasted. At least they had refridgeration, so the fruit could last a bit longer, but still, for her to get ( Read more... )

Mouse peered over the counter at all the fruit that Trudy had cut up. It all looked and smelled very good causing her stomach to grumble. "I am! I missed dinner because I fell asleep. But Salene read me a good book. I don't think there was fruit in it though..." Mouse tapped her chin thoughtfully, completely forgetting about breakfast for a moment. "Salene and Ryan are sorta up. Salene said she had to talk to Ryan, thats why I had to leave. Are they talking about," Mouse lowered her voice, "grown up stuff?" Mouse gave Trudy a secretive look. Then smiled, "but Salene said she'd be up soon ( ... )

Patsy came into the cafe smiling. She was still a little weirded out by how Kerry was acting around her, but yesterday she had attended a wedding a handstamd ceremony, her whole tribe was together, and she had nothing to complain about, and decided to try being in a good mood from the start. Her mood increased as she checked the chore rota to discover that she seemed to have the day off. There was the trial, though, and Patsy was saddened to think that they had to have one.

"Good morning Trudy. Good morning Mouse. No one else is up yet? I thought it sounded quiet."

Anna walked up the stairs slowly from Willow and Flower's room. Her head ached with each step and she hoped that eating might help with the pain. If not, they did have a hospital in the mall, which probably had pain killers. When they entered the kitchen, Anna was pleased to see that a few other people were up and moving around.

"Morning Trudy, Mouse, Patsy." She tried to smile brightly at the trio gathered around preparing breakfast. Fresh fruit sounded pretty good to Anna. They never had nearly enough fresh food when they'd lived in the woods, and it was nice that the mall had a better selection of food. They'd walked in on the tail end of Patsy's comment. "Its not usually this quiet in the morning?" Anna tried to remember what it had been like the first morning after they'd arrived. The day seemed very far away to Anna.

"Ahh yes, Brady fell asleep before dinner too, I'm surprised she didn't come skipping in here demanding to be fed first thing," Trudy cocked her head to the side and considered this. Ever since the virus they hadn't always had constant meals, when Brady had been a baby it had been hard to keep up with her needs, since supplies were so limited and Trudy wasn't able to breast feed. This thought made her blush, she might have been able to, but she didn't care to try, she'd been such a foolish girl back then ( ... )

Lex pulled himself up off the stairs and walked himself into the extra cafe. He figured if anything, he could at least get himself some breakfast before he tried to face Siva. Lex felt like he had been hit by a crazy truck..he still had on the same clothes that he had worn to the wedding, and by the scent of them, he knew he needed to change pretty soon. Lex couldn't help but think about what would happen when he ran into Siva. Would she be upset, pissed off..or even worse, would she not notice at all that he had been away all night long. Of course he hoped for the latter, but if it were him, and the situation were reversed..no chance!!

As Lex entered the extra cafe he frowned and scoffed at the sight of all the young girls jabbering away. Of course..of course there wouldn't be a chance that I could have some peace and quiet while I eat...figures. Lex tried to pay as little attention to them as he rushed over to what he suspected was breakfast, on the counter. Pffftt..so this is breakfast eh? Bird food? I think Trudy's ( ... )

Hugging herself, Zandra wandered along to the extra cafe from Gel's room, wiping her hand across her tear stained cheeks. Nearing the extra cafe, she hovered around, just outside, looking in to see who was already there. She gulped hard at the sight of Lex sitting there, eating his breakfast.. she smiled slightly for a moment, desperately wanting nothing more than to wrap her arms around him, just to hear him say 'get off me Zan' in his usual way, but those days were long gone ( ... )

Kerry walked into the kitchen, feeling refreshed from the best sleep he'd had in a while. He was all smiles as he entered the cafe and greeted everyone with a big "Morning!" He got a few bowls of fruit, gave one to Anna and Willow, pulled a chair next to Willow and sat in it backwards. He ruffled her hair a little and dug into his own bowl. "Did you sleep well?"

He was overly chipper, he knew that, but he felt good and that seemed like a rarity these days. After finishing half of his bowl because he was starving, he glanced up around the table and stopped his fork halfway from his mouth. Slowly putting his hand down, he let out a nervous laugh. "Don't mean to be rude. Did anyone else want a bowl?"

Willow watched passively from her position as people came and went and moved around. She was by far too...icky feeling to try and ask for food. The arrival of Moon didn't phase her really, she didn't know her that well, but she gravitated right over to where Willow was sitting and sat across from her, asking if she was ok, touching her arm. Willow looked up from her position, chin against her forearm, her eyes big, blinking, feeling tears biting at the back of her eyes. She wanted to scream that she wasn't ok, that she'd never be ok again, but she couldn't, she wouldn't. Nodding slightly, "Yeah, I'm just," her forehead wrinkled, "I'm a young woman today," she explained, hoping that made sense ( ... )

The activity swirling around her was less than usual, and it made it much easier for her to zone out, she didn't even realize she'd done it. Was it sleep lingering, no she didn't feel tired. She was simply distracted, and she blushed when Kerry entered, realizing that her thoughts had been about him, she hadn't even realized it. Wierd...

Taking a bowl and filling it, she glanced back to where he'd gone, sitting with his sister and Moon, but he'd only taken two bowls with him. Serving herself, and then an extra bowl, Patsy followed Kerry and placed a bowl in front of Moon, with an extra fork, and snagged another chair from the nearby table. "Mind if I squish in here?" Patsy didn't need a table, she'd do just fine, it was a cold meal. She set her chair back a bit, between Moon and Kerry, "So, what've you guys got planned for today?" Her mood was light, chipper, and she smiled at the others to express this before taking a bite of a rather yummy breakfast.

Kerry looked at Willow and gave her a small shrug. "I have no idea why I'm so perky." That was a lie. He knew it had to do with Patsy 100%. He'd gotten to think a lot last night before he went to sleep and he sorted out so many things in his head. That and his bed was so comfortable... Ok, Patsy took up 99.9% of his perkiness. He smiled a hello to Moon and grinned. "I'm Kerry, the brother of most of the kids running around here." He put another forkful of fruit in his mouth and lifted an eyebrow at Willow, sensing something was wrong. Before he got to ask, though, he nearly choked on his food as the hair on his arms stood up.

He turned to look at the cause and found Patsy wedged between him and Moon. He squeaked out a "No" to her question and then occupied himself with chewing so he wouldn't have to answer the second one. Although he'd sorted all his thoughts out, the presence of Patsy made him weak and that's when he said stupid things... or had makeup fights. A slow smirk made its way onto his face.

Looking around the cafe as he entered, Jay tried to see if Ebony was around. He didn't see her anywhere, but he did see Lex. Great, Lex was probably still holding a grudge against Ebony because he thought she had caused Tai-San's fall. Of course because Ebony is what Lex would call, "Jay's woman," the grudge would extend to him as well.

Jay made straight for the bowl of fruit, helping himself to a portion. "Good morning Trudy," he said in as perky a morning voice as he could manage. He glanced around the room again, trying to decide where to sit. Not with Lex, and not with the girls, they were just too perky and shrill for first thing in the morning. "How are you doing?" he asked, turning back toward Trudy with a little smile.

With his son in one arm, Bray walked into the cafe with Amber from their room, holding her hand firmly in his. It had taken them a while to get ready for breakfast, as the baby had needed changing, and Bray needed for a quick shower, too. But now, here they were, and as Bray looked around the cafe he felt a sudden swell of pride, that newly-wed tingle.

Squeezing Amber's hand with his own, Bray led her towards the counter where the food was. Fresh fruit! It was only recently that fresh produce was becoming easier to come by, so it still seemed like a real treat. A far cry from the measly tins of beans that had constituted every meal at one stage. Bray grinned as he addressed his son, "Hey look little guy, we have fruit for breakfast!", eliciting a happy chuckle from the small boy.

Bray then heard Jay's voice, "Good morning Trudy." and suddenly his heart sank into his stomach as he remembered the conversation from yesterday. Trudy... was she really going to take Brady away to live with the Ecos?

Foillowing Bray into the cafe and holding his hand Amber felt slightly giddy as she thought about the fact that this was her first meal as a married woman. She should have eaten something after the joining, but she had been slightly distracted.... she just hoped no one would ask herself or Bray where they had disappeared to last night as she was sure that her face would go bright red.

Amber was pleased that they had fruit for breakfast, it was great to eat fresh food and it was something she was more than happy feeding to her son, though of course she would no doubt have to mush it up first. Then again, that was something Bray could certainly do. It was strange, this getting used to having Bray back. Her head knew that he was here and that he more than wanted a part in their son's life, though Amber had gotten in the habit of coping on her own, and habits were hard to break.

"Shall I go and get some food?" She asked, squeezing his hand to get Bray's attention. "If you want to get settled with Bray, I'll bring some bowls over."

Bray could feel a light pressure on his hand, gradually pulling him away from his thoughts.
"Huh?" Amber was looking at him intently with her purposeful eyes, and he knew she'd just said something - but what was it? He blinked a few times, and eventually his brain finally caught on to what Amber had said. Bray nodded in reply, and carried their son over to where the high chair was.

Putting baby Bray in the seat, Bray sat down on a chair next to him, looking across the room to where Amber was getting some food. His expression softened automatically as his eyes took in the familiar curves of her body, following the way she moved - he knew he needed to think straight today but how could he?

Mouse, with Flower's help, finished putting out the pitchers of water as the breakfast area began to fill. She smiled happily at Flower. "Well, thats done... should we get some food and eat? I have chores today." Mouse walked over to where the fruit was being served and dumped some into a bowl. "Where should we sit?" Mouse didn't see Salene any where yet. Her and Ryan must be having a long talk. It was probably about how angry he'd been yesterday. Salene never liked it when Mouse got upset, there was usually a talk after the fact.

The table where Willow sat seemed a little cramped with Kerry, Patsy, Moon and Willow. Mouse opted for a table in the middle and she slide onto a seat. Forking up a peice of fruit, she shoved the entire peice into her mouth. It was really juice and so sweet it was like candy. "Mmmm," she said with a bigger grin.

Anna felt bogged down and exhausted. When Kerry handed her a bowl of fruit, she barely noticed until he'd walked away towards Willow. Shaking her head, Anna located a spoon and looked around for a spot to sit at. The table Willow was seated at seemed to have filled up before her eyes. Anna felt a tiny pang of saddness. She was used to eating breakfast with Willow and Flower, but she could share. As she stared into space trying to decide where to sit, Mouse came up and grabbed a bowl of food and walking away, chattering the entire time. Anna gave a small smile and decided to sit with the girl. No doubt, Flower would be joining them. Mouse and Flower seemed to be fast friends, and that was a good thing to see ( ... )
