No way. Don't let them make you write the job description, for your job, for your replacement for you. I bet you'll see your text, in spirit if not letter, directly posted in the ad and in the HR job description from now on. Don't do it. Or at least write it in a form they can't really make use of.

yeah. it seems exceedingly cheeky, especially given that they weren't going to let you do it anyway. can you tell him that since he made it clear you were going to be pushed out of your job anyway, it's up to him to decide what the replacement job should be?

I'm not so much writing out a job description for the next person - he simply wants to make sure that all my tasks are being covered by 'someone' until my replacement arrives, which could be several months away.

Its been an incredibly tough day - everyone is suddenly panicking about my impending exit.

I'd be very much inclined to "forget" a few vital things, so that they spend a lot of time in a panic. But then I can be an evil bitch.Bwah hah hah!!!
And I certainly wouldnt find the time to talk to big boss in USA (if that's the one who left the insulting message.
On the other hand I can see that listing everything you did could give you a fair bit of satisfaction. (And a big Nah nah nah nah nah to them when they realise just how much you did for them that they "hadnt noticed" before.)
So glad they are all panicking - serves them right.
