University Fees - Parental means testing

Hi, as you may know, both my boys are going off to Uni this autumn (Alex has been doing a Foundation Year).

Does anyone know whether I will be means tested every year to see what allowances they will get or only once at the beginning, and if so, is it based on my P60 for this tax year, ending in the April before the boys start?

When I was first a student back in '95 (:S), parental income was means tested from whomever you lived with in the July of the year that they first attended university. It may well have changed now, I suggest looking it up or asking someone who might know better..
