The Best Years is a Canadian program, so the reason for it being canceled probably have more to do with lackluster ratings than The-N aging down. If they're willing to mix TNick shows with SoN, I'd say we're moving somewhere. It's one thing to be upset that the new channel is going to cost more money, but there's no need to bring everyone down. I'm just as upset as everyone else about the mixing of programming (see a post in this com I made a couple weeks back), but I'm still excited we get a 24 hour channel.

the people from TBY were slated to return for 8 more episodes but the people in charge canceled them just now because they want a younger demographic. there's no secret about that.

considering that most of the favorite shows from the n (and really the only ones that are new and not repeats from elsewhere) are ending or canceled, it's only fair to let people know before they spend the money and are disappointed.

as far as i know, no one has said anything about season 7 being the last of degrassi. and no one said that IS and SON might be in trouble because of the younger demographic. it's all just speculation.

but is Beyond the Break cancelled or not? because i heard rumors about that too.

the degrassi people have said for years that the show would end when Emma's group graduates and that this season is the year that happens.

it's not speculation, it's what people are being told who work for those shows.

no clue about BtB, never watched it, but there's no promos or anything for new episodes so it could be another show that no longer works with the new demographic

there was actually an exec. update for degrassi a few weeks ago:

"We're planning on Season 8... we have to be ordered first though of course!" - that was from the executive producer of degrassi on the degrassi boards.

and the "younger demographic" quote only referred to the best years. i highly doubt that every single "the-n original" show will be cancelled just because the best years did. they even have these new collage shows in production for the-n in 2008, so i don't know.

not true at all, the addition of shows like "zoey 101" which is geared for the 11-14 group and others from Nickelodeon is further proof.

plus beyond the break seems to be gone as well, which only leaves degrassi (done either this season or the next since they can't keep the kids in high school forever), south of nowhere (ratings have been dropping), instant star (copied by mtv who also owns the n), and the awful about a girl (ratings are horrible).

with only 4 originals and at least one already almost done, it's very likely they'll all go in the next bit or so since all the other shows are meant for 11-14 group and the aforementioned are meant for the older crowd.

There is talk about a season 8 and the-n wouldn't cancel Degrassi since that is their core show.

I find it really stupid how they are cancelling good shows for a younger demographic. I thought that was what teennick and discovery kids was for.

didn't we all?! instead we are expected to pay more for reruns of shows we can find on Nick at Night, Nick, MTV, and TBS
