Okay, this Red Hook Limited Release barley wine (you can't call something with this much alcohol "beer") is really strong.

This was the perfect condition in which to watch half of Serial Experiments Lain, of course.

(LOL. So much misinformation in Episode 9....)

Goodnight, all. Here's hoping for at least twelve hours' sleep. And tomorrow, I am ( Read more... )

Heh. It basically cost me all the time I was going to use to get stuff done last week, and I'd rather not have a repeat.

The first day after I get off work is pretty much always a lost cause, but it would be nice to actually accomplish something with the second.

(Grr... not even close to as much sleep as I wanted....)

Hah! I was just watching that last weekend. I think I watched the entire series in one day, so the episodes are all running into one another... but I think I had to freeze-frame that episode!

I have to say, it made a lot more sense this time around. Poooossssibly because now I have Internet access and therefore supplementary materials...like TVTropes...

Layer:09 was the "history lesson" episode, which contains a mix of actual facts and utter lies designed to fuck with the viewer's head. My friend (who spent a lot of time back in the day analyzing Lain) and I had a tipsy discussion afterwards on Schumann Resonance, with me arguing that even if you could upload your brain to radio waves on Schumann frequencies, it would be a terrible idea because the background noise from everything else on that frequency would interfere with your signal.

Interesting, totally bizarre series. I'm not betting on getting any satisfactory answers by the end, tho.

It gets weird.

Yes, I understand how that statement must sound to you right about now.

(But for what it's worth, the ending is surprisingly satisfying, answers or not.)

Heh. I came into it expecting weird, and weird I have received. I'm expecting far more weird yet to come. It's frelling Lain, after all. It's famous for the weird.

...the alien in the sweater, however, just made me laugh.
