"...but I'm getting ready to launch a real campaign again soon."

What's it gonna be? Homebrew or established setting? I don't like to build rules-based things but I seem to enjoy building worlds.

So, what have you got cooking?

Homebrew, well, I have an established world I like to use, and it has recurrent elements, but the maps change nearly everytime I run a new campaign.

It's very lazy as far as world-building goes. I start with a town and a dungeon type deal and expand outwards.

That sounds fun, all of my friends that WOULD or WERE into d&d ..
A) weren't interested in a char for any reason at all except damage/healing
B) cannot 'handle' pen and paper because mmo's have ruined their lives and attention span

It's frustrating, I thought the whole concept was to create a fantasy world/scenario for the sake of imagination and fun! If I want to simply roll dice against the DM I will go to atlantic city ! hah

Interested about 4E though, if it's easier to DM.. I have been DM'ing to my wife and sometimes the rules become very complex.. even though I've spent a lot of time getting smart on it

4E is much easier to DM. I never figured you for one of polyhedral brotherhood. Haha. ;)

Yeah! I don't ROLL THEM 20'S TOO HARD but I really enjoy it all. Have never had any kind of stable group or whatever, the closest I've ever gotten was fairly recently playing with like 5 IRL friends online using skype for voice chat and some software for DM'ing... after like 3 2-hour sessions everybody quit except for my wife and I because we were "taking it too seriously" since we wanted to roll play characters instead of like just board-gaming it or something. It was really lame, we totally weren't even nerding out or anything either ( ... )

The easiest no stress way to play would be to go go to an RPGA event. Just have to bring your character.

Join (yahoo groups) LFRNEUSA or DC-RPGA (aren't you close to DC?) Vic Morales kinda runs the DC group and he is very cool.

I'm wondering when you're going to follow through with that promise of Mutants and Masterminds... ;)

I'm STILL being badgered by at least five other people lamenting that I even mentioned it was possible. :(

Hey now, if you have 5 people you don't need me at all..!

I'm telling you, I'm overwhelmed. I'm going to have to cut it back a little just so I can get my own campaign launched.

six people who want to *play*, since you lamented so publicly that you wanted to *run* but couldn't ever find people who wanted to *play*. ;)

It's no problem, just shakin' your tree. :)

There was a lot I liked about 3E, and a fair bit I didn't, as well. I played tons of LG, and a couple of short home campaigns. I've moved on as well, for now. I've played almost no D&D in the last year and a half (lots of other games, though). I've done a few quick sessions of 4E recently. There's a few things I love, but even more things I hate. Pretty much all of the latter are things that were done so that the whole of the game fits on a battle mat. I intend to play a few more sessions of 4E to see if the hatred wears off (as it sometimes does), or gets worse. After that, I'd like to start a campaign that has the feel of 1E, the character customization that 3E offers (toned down a bit, though), and a few select bits of 4E. I'm not yet sure how to accomplish all that, but I have some ideas.
