i was just outside in the sunshine, surveying the damage that i suspect was done to my garden by either cats or chickens. suddenly i can hear the phone ringing from inside the house, and i am drawn away from my dirty green babies to answer this call. i'm rushing because i think, "there's a small chance that it could be my boy".. he lives probably well over 3,000 miles away at the moment, so i really have to appreciate his voice. it can't be him, though, because he just called me last night, but, you know, MAYBE... so i'm fully inside and it takes my eyes a minute to adjust to the darkness, during which i realize it's silent. then my brother walks down the hall, using it to talk to his girlfriend. she lives about 5 minutes away, and he is making excuses about why he can't hang out with her. love, whitney.
