I'm at the Metro Courthouse awaiting my potential selection on a jury, and I have discovered that the guest wireless here blocks port 22!! No ssh for this ninja :( I guess it's somewhat comforting that this probably means the ITS people here know what they're doing. I still want my ssh ( Read more... )

what are you trying to shell into? It's usually a good idea to run ssh on a non-standard port, anyway.

Also, if you have proper permissions, you can edit openssh to listen on multiple ports, and it's ridiculously easy:

/etc/ssh/sshd_config:
Port 22
Port 80
Port 32022

Haha you and your mom are awesome! Yeah, you probably know waaaay too much about chemistry for the lawyers to let you sit on a jury about chemical dumping. That's sad, actually, that we deliberately try to exclude people who could make an informed decision.

Unfortunately for me, NM seems to have its own unique style of jury duty. Instead of just showing up on one day and being picked or not picked, I have to be on call for the next two weeks. Every day, I have to call a number to find out whether my jury group has been called. If so, I need to show up at Metro Court and wait for judges to let us know whether they need a jury. Once they decide how many jury cases there will be, they will pick 21 of us randomly. These people will then go through the interview process (called voir dire--at least I'm learning something!), and eventually the group will be whittled down to six jury members and one alternate.

It's already past 11am, and we've had no word from the judges. Good thing I brought lunch...
