In-Character Information
Name: N Harmonia
Series: Pokemon
Canon-Point: Post-game, a day or two after he departs from Unova. Or... at least tries to. Look like he’ll just fly in a circle, poor guy.
History: http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/N
Personality: N grew up isolated from the outside world, and, as such, it is sometimes painfully obvious how difficult it is for him to understand and fit into social norms. He speaks so quickly that he is nearly unintelligible at times, tends to stand too close to people when speaking to them, and is brutally honest to all those that he meets. Social cues are easily misinterpreted by him, and he is mostly unaware of how to act in social situations. Jokes and attempts at flirting take him a while to understand, and, in most cases, will just go right over his head. He can come across as cold, clueless, and immature, when this is not at all the case.

First of all, N is a very compassionate individual. He cares strongly for Pokemon, and will go to great lengths (as shown in canon, he was willing to create a new world just to ensure their safety) to protect them. While he does have trouble extending this attitude toward humans due to his preconceived notions and personal experience of betrayal, if a human earns his respect, he will eventually be willing to give them the same devotion and loyalty.

While N was once very firm in his beliefs, they have since been shredded, leaving his confidence... more than a bit damaged. Now that he understands the error of his past ways and actions, he suffers from a deep remorse that he tries to hide. He tries to be optimistic, working to correct himself in small ways, but the guilt can show through at times. But N still holds true to his set of morals. Any cruelty shown to Pokemon (or any creature for that matter) will immediately set him off, and he will do anything for those he becomes devoted to (friends, allies, what have you-- Pokemon or not). However, despite his efforts to change himself, it takes a lot to get him to even consider opposing views, as he is vehement in doing what he thinks is right. He is a passion-driven person, urged forward by his own ideals. He can be stubborn and headstrong in his views, and preservers to obtain his goals.

N is a very logic-oriented person. He excels at math and strategizing, and looks before he leaps. He is skilled in these concepts beyond his years; he could even be considered a prodigy. While he is willing to act on impulse in certain dire situations (for example, to protect his friends if there is little time to think), he prefers to analyze things thoroughly before acting.

N is also very curious-- almost childishly so. Things he can’t comprehend can frustrate him to the point of tantrums, but he does make efforts to better his knowledge of things. He is inquisitive, and is not afraid to speak his mind and ask questions.

Powers: N has the ability to hear the voices of Pokemon. Because of his upbringing, he is both able to understand their language and interpret their behavior rather well.

Starter Pokemon: Zorua

Writing Samples
First-Person Sample:
[As the video starts... it’s not exactly video at all. The screen is simply black, with an audible male voice speaking over it in snippets.] ... entirely understandable for it to come with an instruction manual... sorry... didn’t mean... [A flicker of static later and an image is salvaged from the static-- a young man with long, wild green hair, and what appears to be a black fox curled up in his lap. A gaggle of other creatures have also seemed to migrate to him: a pair of brown-furred puppies snuggling against his legs, a strange raccoon-like creature on his shoulder, and a purple rat perched atop his cap. He is smiling toward the Sentret on his shoulder, but as soon as he notices the video is working, his expression sobers.]

... This is how trainers are meant to communicate with one another, correct? This... device? [A pause. His voice is stern, but not entirely unkind.] Listen, all of you. I don’t know what is causing this sudden influx of people, but I am certain of one thing: it is incorrect-- unnatural. [He raises a hand up, stroking one of the Sentret’s ears.] These Pokemon do not belong in this region... They are invasive species. It is my understanding that the only other thing that has changed is your presence here, and many of these species have been brought by some force to be your... partners. [This seems to greatly perturb him; he slumps his shoulders a little, his eyes narrowing.] It is only logical to assume your intrusion in this universe has disrupted the natural cycle of things...

I suggest you all return to where you came from. Immediately. Before it gets worse. If you do not know how... it would best for you to start searching for a way. If not, we could all be in grave dan--

[Suddenly, the rat decides to take a leap of faith-- hopping down from the man’s hat and pouncing on the fox. The fox yelps and scrambles out of the man’s lap, the rat chasing after it. The man gasps and gets to his feet.]

Ah...! Stop that, you two! Please! You don’t have to fight-- [The feed is abruptly cut off.]

Third-Person Sample:
The last thing N could remember was being on Reshiram’s back, his hands clutched in warm, white feathers as a sharp, cold wind cut at his face. There was a disorienting moment of dizziness that he could recall, then a sinking-- no, violent plummeting-- feeling. The sensation of falling from the safety of Reshiram’s feathers, suddenly too weak to keep hold-- helpless.

When he awoke, he found himself face to face with a sight that was both new and startling, as well as very familiar: two large turquoise-colored eyes staring into his own. They blinked, and he blinked slowly in return.

“Oh...” he started, lifting his hands gingerly up toward the creature that had situated itself atop his chest. “Hello, friend...”

“Rua!” the Pokemon answered, getting to its-- or, rather, her-- feet. As she noticed N’s hands, instead of shying away or lashing out as N had feared, she nuzzled her face into his palm. Pleasantly surprised, N smiled and began to scratch behind her ears.

“Sorry,” she whimpered apologetically, tail wagging with a poorly contained excitement. “I didn’t mean to scare you or anything!”

“No, I should be the one apologizing,” he replied with a chuckle. “I hope I haven’t trespassed--”

“Trespassed? Nuh-uh, you haven’t trespassed! This is human territory, really.”

N raised an eyebrow. Human? If this truly was a human settlement, he wouldn’t expect to find such a spirited Zorua in its midst. He would expect it to hide, shield itself in an illusion at least. But this one seemed to have nothing to fear.

Zorua clambered onto his shoulder as he slowly pushed himself upright. As he glanced at his surroundings, he noticed it was, in fact, dotted with houses-- a town. But what caught his eye first was the alarming amount of people, meandering about in the front lawns of those houses. Each one seemed to be paired with a Pokemon-- many non-native species he’d never seen before. Had they... been there the whole time? He could only stare for several moments, eyes wide and mouth slightly agape.

“What... is this?” he questioned, turning to Zorua. “Where am I?”

The Zorua seemed to grin at him. “Nuvema Town!”

The name instantly struck a chord. Nuvema... The hometown of that trainer...

“H-how can that be?” he continued, distraught. His gaze dropped to his hands, palms still dirtied and scraped from that final battle. “I meant to leave Unova...”

The Zorua blinked at him, confused. Soon enough, however, it seemed to grin at him. “I dunno what’s going on, but... my mom always said Arceus works in strange ways sometimes!” She nuzzled his cheek sympathetically, and he closed his eyes in an attempt to calm himself. “And, you know... I’ve been waiting for you for a while!”

“For... me?”

“Yup!” she answered, hopping from his shoulder to his lap. She nodded at the surrounding groups of humans. “And I’m not the only one.”

N followed her gaze, his eyes darting about the myriad of faces-- human and Pokemon alike. The crowds were starting to make him feel claustrophobic. Instinctually, his fingers found their way to his belt, to his Pokeballs... and he found nothing. He paled.

“... Oh no...” he breathed, panic rising. “No, it can’t be...”

Zorua seemed unfazed, scratching at her ear with her hind leg. “Yeah... that’s pretty much what all of ‘em have been saying.”
