Title: Bond Street
Wordcount: 314
Rating: PG-13
Characters: Dirk Kuyt
Disclaimer: Not mine, not true. Woe.
Summary: You’ve seen him shopping on your street. Happy Christmas, austengirl, and thank you for a wonderful time! Based on something I remember you once said, so ner. :-P

Even though you know other people have seen him around, and it’s not like Liverpool’s a very big place, comparatively speaking, you never expected him to come in here.

He’s polite, and quiet, pays quickly, and smiles when he thanks you, and despite the fact that it’s so normal you’re not even sure it’s him, you can’t help but crane over the counter just a bit as he goes out and walks down the street, slipping his sunglasses down (sunglasses in winter, really, Dirk?) over his eyes to protect them against the winter sun. He catches you looking, and grins a bit, gives you a wave before he disappears.

The next time he comes in you’re not as flustered - not that you were the first time, of course, you just think it’s cool, and that it’s funny no one else seems to notice.

“You’re not going to ask for an autograph?” he asks in a friendly manner as he’s about to go.

“Well,” you say, “if you’re offering…”

“Sure. Don’t tell Stevie, though,” he chuckles as he scrawls his name a bit messily on one of the front pages of one of your ledgers. “He thinks it’s silly I sign for anyone.”

“You could get him to come in and tell me himself. I think business here might pick up if people knew it was a ‘hangout for the boys’.”

“I’ll keep it in mind,” he laughs, and turns to go again before he turns back and offers you his hand. You exchange names and shake, just like anyone else. It’s sort of what you’ve always liked about him, the fact that he’s normal as opposed to mad, bad or stupid.

When you go back to work after Christmas, there’s a card stuck under the edge of the outer steel door with your name on it.

Gelukkig kerstfeest. And thank you too. D.
