Edwin van der Sar was made an Officer of Oranje-Nassau (i.e. knighted) today in a ceremony before Holland's match vs. Hungary. He also sang the national anthem with the team after thanking the fans and his family and wishing the Oranje well in South Africa.

I didn't realize until I re-watched the vid hours after the match that he'd actually said ik houd van je. *melts into a weepy puddle*

I had tears in my eyes too. Especially in that moment when he sang along the anthem, in that video you sent me. That was so.... so... emotional.

But doesnt he fit well to the guys when he wears a suit? Like the next bondscoach ;).

Well, he is working on his UEFA coaching badge, isn't he? If he became the national coach sometime down the line.... ohohohoh. Massive amounts of suit. Yum.

That was lovely to watch. Thanks to aka_centimetre2 for the 'ik hou van je' heads up. ;) Joe and Lynne look so grown up. And the hugs from the team and, and...
