Well, That Was Something

I know I said I wasn't going to post here anymore, but then a thing happened. The news this morning said we got three tornadoes yesterday but that they were all very far away from me. Like, 'a two hour drive' far. But I don't know how else to explain what happened to me if it didn't involve a (very weak, admittedly) tornado.

Holy crap! Fred and I are so glad you weren't hurt. That certainly sounds like a tornado to us. Maybe it was straight-line winds or maybe it just didn't last long enough to show up on the official weather scans? Whatever it was, I'm glad that it didn't damage you or your car and that you got through the flooding ok.

Thanks. I was fully expecting to come out of it a lot worse. I'd put my seat belt back on and braced myself against the roof in case the car rolled.

I've been through the straight line winds thing before, oddly enough on my way home from work because I get off work around the same time storms usually fire up. It was somewhere around 1999, and I was on a street and saw every single tree on the street bend over and lay flat to the ground. I didn't even know trees could do that. But there was no roaring sound and the air stayed clear. It just didn't look or sound anything like what happened on Friday.

I'm thinking it was an EF0 or EF1 and since it wasn't observed or reported by any trained weather spotters, no one "official" knows about it. I certainly didn't see any rotation because I couldn't see anything. It's also possible that it was a funnel that never touched down.

So glad you are okay! And yeah, that sounds pretty classic tornado to me. Amazing and cool, in retrospect. :)

Yeah, it's a lot easier to look back on this as an interesting story since I came out of it relatively unscathed.
