4th Passage [AU!Discedo, Video]

Apr 07, 2011 20:39

[The first part of this feed is a pre-recorded clip of the Discedo evening news. The reporters are cheerfully discussing a new advancement on the prototype world-viewing machine that scientists are working on. Sound familiar? But this is just a "prototype." After the segment is over, the camera switches to Alpha, who seems way too calm considering ( Read more... )

Makes you wonder what side effects there could be.

I imagine there are quite a number of potential complications that could occur. Getting connected to the wrong universe, perhaps.

Exactly. When will scientists learn, eh?

Maybe when an entire thriving city has been destroyed and they're forced to take up inter-dimensional kidnapping as a career?

[Pauses mock-thoughtfully.]

...no, probably not.

[When she arrives at the library she will find a child already there, hiding under a table and trying to read a volume that looks far too advanced for his age while keeping a wary eye out for librarians.]

[Luckily the history section is nearly abandoned at the moment. Alpha approaches the table with her own stack of rather hefty books, which she sets above his head with a slightly louder thump than necessary. She then crouches and peers under the desk with a slight smile.]

Doing a little light reading, hm?

[Conan freezes and pastes an innocent smile on his face.]

Mmmm, this book has lots of pictures!

Really? It looks a little advanced for my tastes. What's it about? [Kind of. Scooting under the table herself to look over his shoulder.]

[Another small kid is pressing a sketchbook to his chest and warily peeking around corners.]

[Alpha is making it a point to stand out without really standing out- the stack of books next to her is large and varied enough that it seems odd without screaming for attention. There aren't many others around, either, yet she's sitting off to the side instead of spreading out her things at one of the larger central tables. She scans the room every so often as if waiting for someone, pausing to make eye contact with the child over the top of whatever she's currently reading.]

[Robin is already distracted, but when he sees the odds and ends stack, he can't help but drift over and peer at a few of them. He thinks for a moment and then sketches out something quickly on his book.]

'There are more books here than the other place.'

[And he's looking at her expectantly.]

[As she stated in her message, he heads towards the history section in the east wing with a notebook in his hand]

[She'll be sitting out of the way with several stacks of books around her, flipping through and marking pages here and there. Kresnik gets an acknowledging nod before she returns to the book she's currently reading, casually clearing a space on the table next to her with her other hand.]

[He sits down]

Found something relevant?

Probably nothing that's going to help us immediately. I thought I'd look into the science behind that machine, firstly, but most of these aren't current enough to have any relevance. Though you're welcome to look.

[She waves a hand over her collection. Physics, temporal mechanics, history, mostly Discedo-specific, sociological studies of Hollislanders, and...music books.]

The history books offer some fascinating insight...but who knows how this iteration of the world might differ from our own.
