Has anyone ever had to give their horse oral penicillin powders...but found that the horse is wise to your every attempt to disguise it in food, molasses, sandwiches, grated carrot or apple...and so on?
Duane is back on penicillin for the second time in less than six weeks and I'm buggered if I'm stuffing around with messy molasses sandwiches which he sniffs suspiciously and spits to the ground etc etc. And if you have ever tried mixing it water you will have found its resistant to water and still tastes and smells like crap.
Well...I have the solution. Sunflower oil. A little bit of oil poured straight into a paste tube, add the powder, shake it hard, and squirt it straight over the back of the little buggers tongue! Cop that you little Mr Smarty Pants.
Mind you, when Duane rears to avoid being given the paste he is still only waist high so I can beat him. God forbid I ever have to do this to Monty - who is over 17 hands - and is the worlds biggest sook who hates having anything done to him.
2 more days, Duane...only two more days. Then you can go back to all your girls.
