Summer school

Jun 27, 2006 20:08

The subject says it all. I'm back in school...during the summer. Never in my life have I done this. But it looks like it'll pay off. I'm getting two classes out of the way in 6 weeks so that is really good. Plus both the classes are easy as can be. I already completed all the writing for my geography class. All I needed to do was type up 10 ( Read more... )

You know that reusing your papers is frowned upon, right? If you turn in the same paper multiple times it's basically cheating the Gordon Rule which says that students need to write a certain number of words during their college experience. You're writing less than that since you're reusing the same paper multiple times.

I'm just getting on your case because as easy as it is to turn papers around like that, you don't want to cheat yourself, which is essentially what you're doing. You're cheating yourself of an opportunity to grow as a writer and to accomplish something new and better throughout your college experience by fine-tuning a skill that comes from college. Also, depending on where you transfer, it may not be as easy to just turn in the same paper and you'll either get caught or embarrassed by the lousy papers that you'll punch out simply because you've let a vital skill get rusty.

Ok, lecture's over! Someone's gotta tell ya, kid! May as well be me! :)

Haha, good job. That sounds MUCH better than using the same PAPER over and over. The same topic is completely acceptable. And I hope you didn't mind my lecture TOO much. I just hate when people try to slide by with something good enough when they could create something new and great. I think the majority of the time when you read the crap articles that get printed in the News Journal, stupid books that come out, etc. it's because the writers are so afraid to break out and start something new. It is vital for the health of the author and the good of the story to brutally cut out parts of what you are writing that you thought were good... as a sacrifice to something better that's still waiting to come out. And so many people just never get to the GREAT things because they settle for the mediocre first attempt. I'm glad you aren't doing that!

The end.

ps: just because i don't post on my live journal that you can see, does not mean that i am not here. beware.

Oh, I didn't mind your lecture at all. I totally understood your concern. As I said before I actually do enjoy writing on new topics. But this class worked out where recycling an old paper was best.

P.S. Whoa, your little "p.s" was kinda scary. Haha

Hello <-- all that came to mind :) It's late poetic_prosejd June 29 2006, 03:39:49 UTC
Whoa, snap - Jen just told you! I can't talk, though. I'm Miss Franklin-and-France; goodness knows I've used that topic many times.

My school is so incredible! I'm loving the drive to Deltona, although Deltona in and of itself is dreary and quite suffocating. I know the main roads now, and oh! The Deltona Library has the exact floor plan as your library. I walked in to explore it a bit, and thought I had walked into the Port Orange branch!

Well, I'm going to post on my last week quite soon - it'll be a doosy of a post, though. Between Mom's, Dad's, and Deltona, life has been unbelievable (in a good, crazy way) :).

The storm today was wicked cool, by the way. Target got such a power surge that when we got a brief outage, our auxiliary power didn't kick in and our system crashed for five minutes. The thunder blew my mind. I wanted to be home and watch it through my windows. :)

Yeah, it's kinda weird that they have the same floor plan. One of the other libraries has a mirrored version of our floor plan which makes it even weirder.

I'm gald to hear your school is going well and that you are enjoying it.

Wasn't that storm amazing!? I just stared in awe while I was driving. I love looking at severe storms from a distance so I can observe the lightning. I realized yesterday how much I've missed and love lightning.
