I couldn't even believe it. Bill Maher makes a movie and he interviews people in a truckers chapel in RURAL NORTH CAROLINA? And the guy who works as Jesus at a theme park?! And then he's all smug about making religious people look like dumbasses?!?

Fuck that noise. He just set every person who enjoys honest discourse back a hundred years.

i liked the movie. i wouldn't expect bill maher to do anything else BUT go to some weird ass truck stop chapel to interview people about christianity...or any of the other places he goes for that matter. he's a comedian making a documentary about a relevant subject--why do fairy tales dictate our modern world? while i watched it i felt uncomfortable at times. but no more uncomfortable than i ever felt watching a michael moore movie. i chalk it up to my upbringing in the south where we don't generally rock the boat. we're taught rocking the boat is sinking the boat. no one wants to see their family drowning.

i know bill maher is smart. that's why i wanted him to take a different route than michael moore did and NOT shoot fish in a barrel. it's the same kind of sensationalistic crap that moore puts out. i guess i should feel happy that someone's on "our side," but i just can't stomach another documentary that's clearly in over its head.
